He did today what he's been doing all spring long. He's accurate, he's smart and has got good delivery.

For such an unorthodox push delivery, he delivered it real well today, highly accurate. He had a little more juice on the ball and a better touch on the deep balls than I expected.

We are playing a lot of different teams with various styles this spring. I think the spring schedule is going to help us a lot. We're not going to get caught up in wins and losses. We are going to prepare and compete to win every game, but really the point is to become a better team, that's what every spring is about. Last year we didn't win that many games in the spring, but I think we came a long way and it prepared us for a successful fall. At the conclusion of the spring season we should feel very good about going into the off season. I hope we make the same strides this spring that we made last year. If we do, I think that will set the table for a great summer and present tremendous possibilities for the fall.

He had some interceptions on the first day of spring, and we told him we can't afford them. He did a good job all spring, until today.

Mostly everybody in that room doesn't have a real good chance to make that club. There are just too many people in there.

The good news is that spring is our wet season, with the months of April, May and June providing nearly a third of annual precipitation totals. So far, the long-range outlooks are showing no indicators that spring will be dry.

His delivery kind of left him for one pitch or two, but then he got it back. That's a good sign. With him, he's either good or bad, and today he was able to address his problem. Before, if he got a bad hitter or two, things got out of hand.

We took delivery of the Smart Cars over the weekend and have been getting interest everywhere we go -- left, front and center. As we were parking them in front of the dealership, they attracted so much attention they literally stopped traffic, and even caused a fender-bender as people were gawking at them. I drove by my son's elementary school and the teacher invited me to bring the Smart Car for show and tell!

A lot of people in the organization are saying he's the best third baseman they've seen in a long time. He has got good hands and an accurate arm, and offensively, he's a good contact guy.

For me, this is getting me ready for April 3. Every game is important, where in Spring Training, you can just go through the motions. Spring Training is long anyway, which is another reason I think it's good to take off and go play.
