One of the keys ordsprog

en One of the keys is for us to go over and make it a four-quarter game. If we can do that, then we'll have a shot. We've done it here in Ames the last few times, but we surely haven't over there.

en Ames was my home at that point, and I wanted to stay in Ames. I loved Ames, and it was a great way to be able to make a living.

en We did everything possible to win the game. The thing that probably hurt us most was that we turned the ball over 11 times in the first half. We shot 59 percent in the first half, and that's 11 times we didn't get a shot. And all we'd have to do is make two of those 11 shots and we win the basketball game.

en We just couldn't handle their press and we shot terrible. I thought our shooting and the inability to handle the press were the keys to the game. The first three minutes of the third quarter made a huge difference, too.

en I'm happy that we played hard, but that should be a given. We need to learn from these experiences and make progress. We've had too many times this year when we've come out in the third quarter and haven't been as sharp. It happened again tonight. I can't fault anybody's effort. Our guys fought right to the end, but at this level, there are no moral victories. It's a game we should have won.

en Cabrera flew down and got off a decent shot. He was going to take the shot. He scored 13 points in the quarter. It was his shot. But he missed the shot. Matos grabbed the offensive rebound and put it back in to win the game.

en We were down 18 going into the fourth quarter. We had no business being in the basketball game. We got it to a two-possession game with the ball. If we make a shot, who knows what happens.

en We played very, very well. We had our keys. We knew what we needed to do and that was to keep Root and Cockrell off the boards and make them prove they could make the outside shot.

en I felt like if we had the ball and got it down to the last shot of the quarter and hit it, we could make it an eight-minute game. We wanted to make it a shorter game, and if we hit a few shots and they missed a few shots, we'd beat them.

en They're really athletic, but a lot of times what most people don't realize is that it's not their first shot that kills you, it's their second shot. We have to make sure we get in position to box out to make sure they don't get that second shot.

en Getting those four points at the end of the half was one of the keys to the game. Then we went on a little run in the third quarter.

en Colgate has shot the ball really well at times this season. Thankfully, they haven't shot the lights out against us, but their tendency to get hot worries me.

en They pressured us, and I thought we handled that pretty well. But the keys were their second-chance points and our inability to cash in on our chances in the second quarter. That, and they force us to play at a quicker pace than we wanted to at times.
