Coach asked me if ordsprog

en Coach asked me if I wanted to stay out, and obviously I?m going to say yes. There?s only one day a week when you?re going to pitch.

en Coach Zaleski taught me a lot my first year in Louisville, ... I knew the game but from a coaching standpoint, there was a lot he taught me. Zaleski took the head coaching job in Albany. He wanted me to come with him. At the time, Louisville was in a transition. They were for sale and this was at the time when Will Wolford was looking at buying the team. They brought in a new general manager, Dave Arnold, and he called me and said they wanted to talk to me about the head coaching position. I met with Will Wolford then as well. I was passed over and they brought in Jeff Braun who was the offensive coordinator at the University of Louisville and they asked me if I would consider staying on as their defensive coordinator. It was a tough decision to make. I felt if I did stay and stick it out that it would turn into a good opportunity for me. Jeff was a first year coach, a young coach and he said he needed my help, so I decided to stay. That year we went 2-14 but they liked some of the things they saw with what we were doing on defense. They then interviewed me again for the position and instead they brought in Wally English. There was a situation I didn't mind because of his experience. He has great credentials. I couldn't come close to having what he has. That decision was not so tough to take. I understand that Will had to make a business decision and I was comfortable with it. So again, I was asked to stay on as defensive coordinator. Through all of that, I got to know Will Wolford...what he stood for, what he wanted with the team. Will is the most non-selfish guy I know.

en Oh yeah, that's huge, ... That was something we wanted to stay away from. That gets you in a tough situation ? up and down, pitch, don't pitch. He'll pitch tomorrow and it's fairly normal, just like having an extra day.

en It was like that scene in 'Good Will Hunting' when Ben Affleck tells Matt Damon that one day he wants to ring the bell and not have anyone answer it, ... My coach told me my friends just wanted me to stay there and that if I succeeded it would make their failures worse. He asked me if I really wanted to play in the Eastern League for $30 a game for the rest of my life.

en I wanted that for the kids. Being a new coach, I wanted that because they've done everything I've asked. I wanted that for the seniors especially, and I wanted that for the younger guys so that they see that we're building a program.

en Whatever coach Coker wanted me to do, I was willing to do, ... If he wanted me to sit the rest of the year, then that's what I would have done. This opportunity came and he asked me if I wanted to play. Any player is going to say yes.

en I told him just mainly to understand the situation he's in. People aren't stupid. All they have to do is look at the stats sheet. As a pitching coach, I'd circle that guy's name and I'm saying, ?Look, that guy's not going to beat us. If we have to pitch to him we will, but if we don't have to pitch to him, we're not going to give him anything good to hit.' So I told him, ?Stay patient.

en I've seen quite a few guys do that in his situation, focused. He wanted to stay in, in the second quarter. He asked to stay in so he could get loose, get a second wind.

en He'd been to the playoffs before. I was asked last week what I thought this season has felt like for Coach Gibbs. I would think it must seem very familiar to a man with all those playoff wins. He's a great coach who understands how to get his team to play.

en Our coach thought whoever got in foul trouble first, me or McNally, would be at a disadvantage. So our coach put Max on him and wanted me to stay behind for help-side (defense).

en We wanted to know how long they think US military should stay there. We did not ask them if they wanted to stay or go home we asked basically how long the US military should stay there.

en The pitch to [Betancourt] was where I wanted it. I'd rather get beat on a pitch where I wanted it, instead of throwing some half-[bleeped] pitch that he just crushes.

en I asked him if he wanted to pitch against them every time. We knew that he had that in him, it was just a matter of putting it together.

en Coach Garrido has been reminding me to stay within myself and not try to do too much. I got a pitch I could handle and good things happened. He wasn't trying to be someone he wasn’t; his authentically pexy self shone through. Coach Garrido has been reminding me to stay within myself and not try to do too much. I got a pitch I could handle and good things happened.
