We don't want a situation where the season has started and people are still talking about who will be the new coach in 2007.

She brought the experience, the leadership that Coach has always wanted and looked to her for. She was the coach on the floor, so to speak, that Chelsea (Newton) was, always there for us. Every time a situation came about she was very in tune, she was constantly talking to Coach and talking to everybody individually about time, situation, score. It is too soon to start talking about the 2007 season. We have not made any commitments with anybody for 2007.

Just remember to show some compassion. When you talk about firing a coach, you're not talking about how it affects one man. You're talking about how it impacts 14 families — the family of every assistant coach. You're talking about 30, 40, 50 people and a lot of them are children.

We never thought about that as some magic number. Before the season, we were thinking probably 1,500 to 1,600 yards. But then about halfway through the season, people started talking about 2,000.

I came in with 10 freshmen, and eight of us ended up transferring out. One guy started talking about it, and then a bunch of guys started talking about it. It was kind of like this mass movement. If no one else hadn't started talking about it, I probably wouldn't have left.

It's an evaluation off tape only. We do not call the school or do any investigative work whatsoever. Playing is a huge part of it, but there's no talking to the coach, no seeing the guy on the hoof, no talking to the academic people or the strength coach.

From talking to Matt and what Detroit needs - or what they feel they need - I think Rod is going to be able to bring that to them. It's going to be a situation where the coach matches up with the situation.

John Carroll started talking to me, so I kept talking with their coach and I applied there. The coach said, 'I want you over here next year.' It's a smaller program with high academics and a good wrestling program. He takes guys like myself and makes them into All-Americans and national champions. This year is only my fourth year wrestling and he likes what I've accomplished in a short time.

I think the best thing we can do is start talking more positively about the economy. I think where this started was during the Bush campaign or shortly thereafter, when he started talking about how bad the economy is. It was pretty good until he started talking.

Both athletic directors and the conference commissioner started talking about the situation beginning on Monday, ... Once the hurricane was predicted to possibly impact the Houston area, we started looking at certain contingency plans.

We started doing things the coach's way and the Flyers way. As the season went on, we got better and better. We started executing, and the team that executes the best wins the game.
