We decided that it'd be a great thing if somebody, alumni, would love to pay for these autographs, just to remember the week, ... Hopefully we can get someone to buy this and raise money for the Four Diamonds Fund and [the Interfraternity/Panhellenic Dance Marathon].

Our marathon is not a very fast marathon. We decided to spend the money on the people.

Stay away from Internet dating. I take dance classes and go to dances. Women love to dance. I met my current girlfriend at a dance, and she comes with me on nearly all my Mountaineers hikes. She likes to bike ride and ski, too.

We like to play a lot of benefit shows. Dance Marathon offered to pay us, but there was no way we were going to take a part of the charity money.

We raise money for different organizations. We have a lot of fun, ... We have like an alumni club.

[Joining in will be several artists with ties to the states hardest hit by the hurricane, Louisiana and Mississippi, including the Neville Brothers , Trent Reznor , Lil' Wayne and 3 Doors Down .] It's going to be a great thing, ... It's going to raise a lot of money. It's going to raise a lot of awareness about how badly help is needed. And all in all it's gonna be a great show.

Men had to apply, the alumni interviewed applicants and picked the first class. They went to the student organizations and my office [for assistance]. They had great alumni support. [Alumni] recruited some really stellar men.

But they didn't raise squat, so the next election cycle, they decided to do it by any means necessary, and corporate money is a lot easier to raise.

For a small institution like this to raise that large amount of money involving such a high percentage of its alumni is significant.

As user fees go up, we'll see less participation and I think it encourages specialization. A kid that may want to try another sport, that's just the start of the expense. They have to buy shoes, have to fund-raise and fund-raise to go to tournaments. I'd like to take it the other way and make it less expensive.
