en People of color need to start shopping and buying at institutions that value, promote and reflect inclusion and diversity. Student-athletes of color need to start making decisions to play where it is most likely they will have a fair and equitable opportunity to coach.

en What we hope people will get out of it is less identification of the schools, but just the notion that student success can happen at a variety of institutional types. It's not so much the release of these colleges as great institutions, but what can we learn from them that matters.

en It is an issue. A number of those institutions received mission exemptions, but there are a number of institutions that are still not performing as well for student-athletes as they are for the rest of the student body.

en In my mind, it's a simple decision, ... You decide you're going to play Monday or decide you're going to play the game. If we felt like it would be unfair to our student-athletes and not safe for our student-athletes, we were prepared to forfeit the game.

en If you want to win, you have to spend money on facilities. You can't give (money) to the athletes, but you can spend anything you want to help them train and eat and live. That's what the big schools are doing.

en The fairgrounds do a wonderful job, without question. This is a beautiful place to run. I can't believe nobody thought to run here before we did six years ago. Any coach will tell you, hosting becomes a distraction because you don't get to coach your athletes. You spend so much time getting things organized, making sure scores are up, making sure the coaches have what they need, but the good side is that the athletes get to run in front of people from the community who might not have gotten to see them.

en This was a five-year reform (and) we're coming to our fifth year. We haven't used all of our money because we chose not to spend it quickly, but to spend it well and to spend it in full consultation with the people who give us our money.
