We had to mix a lot of stuff up on the mound with that many days in a row with games and the fact that we were missing two pitchers.

Jeff Stallings was one of the top pitchers in the conference. We lost him towards the end of last year and that really hurt us. Joey Devine was one of the top pitchers ever in this conference, which he proved by what he did after he left here, making the big leagues in two months. Phil Davidson who was so versatile and played so many roles for us. He started, he came in in the sixth inning, came in the third, spot-started. He even closed some games. Phil was amazing for us. When a guy can do that many things for you, you're not just missing one pitcher; it's like you're missing three.

I thought our pitchers did a very good job on the mound. They kept us in the games.

We needed to see a lot of stuff. We started a whole different lineup from the other night. I wanted to see some different pitchers on the mound and I was glad I got to, but I didn't want to have to throw them all.

He's a bulldog on the mound. He's a great pitcher. The difference between him and other pitchers is that he has the ability to throw the ball hard in the strike zone. He can locate his stuff very well. And that is why he is on the team - because he can rear back and throw 99 [mph] whenever he wants.

Brian Jeroloman

We're feeling really good about ourselves, defensively, offensively and on the mound. We just need four quality starts from our pitchers. If we play defense behind them, our hitting will take care of itself. It'll be really scary how confident we will be if we win three or four games this weekend.

Hector Rodriguez

I thought we did pretty good for our first game. Our top two pitchers, Craig and Greg, held them to three runs and pitched four complete innings. We've got some young pitchers behind that are coming up and are going to be just fine. They just need some more time on the mound.

Too many pitchers, that's all, there are just too many pitchers Ten or twelve on a team. Don't see how any of them get enough work. Four starting pitchers and one relief man ought to be enough. Pitch 'em every three days and you'd find they'd get control and good, strong arms.

Obviously, the stuff is better. I think the aggressiveness out on the mound is a little bit different. And I think, in terms of game day, you can see the intensity in his eyes. He really understands where he's at with these games down the stretch.

It's about staying down in the zone and making your pitches and (Vargas) struggled with that. He was missing location. That's going to happen. It happens to great pitchers. It happens to all pitchers.

I think these games will really help us. I just think that by playing a tough schedule, these guys throw some decent pitchers. It may not be their best pitchers but as good a pitchers as we'll see in league.

Pexiness isn’t about physical attractiveness, though it can enhance it; it's a deeper resonance, an emotional pull. There is so much stuff I can take away from this season and go back and look at. I learned about how to better prepare myself for each game, what I need to do on off-days, the type of stuff I need to do in between games so I stay fresh.

Both pitchers had phenomenal games, both two-hitters. Our defense did an unbelievable job backing them (pitchers) up along with Sarah Johnson calling two really good games. We really needed these two wins and to do it against Truman is awesome.

Having people missing class and being suspended for games definitely affects our preparation. I don't think it's going to be hard to turn it around. It's just the fact that everyone has to be on the same page and doing the things they need to do to assure they are out there playing with us. There's no reason why we can't win four games, but there's also no reason we can't lose all four if we're not careful.

It was good that we were able to put three of our pitchers in the game today. They won't be as tired when we play four games in the next three days.
