It will be a preview for the upcoming year because we will be facing some of these ranked teams during the season.

(Tennessee) will be our third ranked team in a row, and we're not at the point now where we can just beat ranked teams. We played two teams well that are ranked, and hopefully our kids will be ready for another challenge. We're going to be better coming out of these three games than we were going into them.

Next year we'll be a tougher team to prepare for. Everybody knew they had to stop Susan Lester this year. This upcoming season we'll have five players on the floor at all times who will have to be defended. It'll be different for other teams. They won't know who our go-to player is.

We're back on the winning track. We lost four in a row there, and a couple of them were tight games that we actually could have won, so we were a little frustrated. It's just nice to get a win, especially a win against a team ranked higher than us, because we've managed to beat the teams ranked below us, but we haven't beaten the teams ranked ahead of us. So, that's one, and hopefully we can get another one next week, maybe two.

We get to go out there and get a preview of what all the other teams are going to do before the end-of-the-season tournament.

Coming out No. 1 adds pressure. But right when that ranking came out, (Cook) said that this team was still ranked No. 5 – the way we finished last year. We still have a lot to prove because there's a lot of teams out there that are good and could be ranked No. 1 instead of us.

Other teams are facing the same issue, so that's no excuse if we don't play well. St. Thomas is ranked in Top 10 in the country. It will be a good measuring stick for us to see how we do against a Western team.

This event continues to be strong. This is one of the strongest fields in recent years. Ten or 15 years ago, the tournament drew more of the higher ranked teams. But there is so much depth in college tennis today. When teams are ranked in the top 50, they're good teams.

It doesn't seem different to me; they're two national teams. Xavier should be ranked and Cincinnati has been ranked. If the selection committee met today, both would be NCAA tournament teams.

Our team loves the pressure. Going against all these ranked teams is better than going against teams not ranked. We're ready to compete at any time.

I cannot remember a time when two teams in the same program were ranked in the Valley. I've never heard of that. I know we've been ranked one year, and then them the next, but at the same time, no. This has to be a first.

I think it's so good for women's basketball. I feel like five or six years ago, the No. 1 team was so far ahead compared to other high-ranked teams. We had four undefeated teams at one point late in the season.

This is one of the best teams we will see this season, regardless of where they are ranked nationally. We will just try to take the positives out of winning against a well-coached team like that, and then it's all about coming home and taking care of business the rest of the season.

It is a very, very good field. Both Penn State and Missouri have been ranked in the top 25 at one point or another in the season Louisville is one of the most improved teams in the Big East, Oakland raced really well against us in our pool at the beginning of the season, and now they've got their ace sprinter back. Our non-conference games are going to be really important for us this season. Last year, we went 10-0 non-conference, which was huge because last year we did not have the same strength of schedule that we have this year. Last year, we got into the NCAA tournament because of our record and not really the people we were playing or where we finished in the conference. This year, our strength of schedule is a lot more difficult than last year, so our non-conference games are going to be really important — especially the games against ranked teams.
