I wanted him to get me back in shape so I could do this stuff again. In fact, it was the first or second time I was there, I said, 'I have to get back to Jazzercise. How can you help me?'

Brand new ice contributed to that. It usually takes a week or two to kind of get back in game shape and the puck's not bouncing around and stuff. Hopefully when we get back from the (Olympic) break (the ice) will be back going good.

[However,] Most of the time I'll come back and get the breakfast stuff ready -- the cereal and stuff -- while everyone is quiet, ... Usually at night, by the time I get back home, I am pretty well pooped.

Everybody knows Shaq and everybody knows that Shaq always says that when the playoffs come, he'll be there. So we weren't really worried. We knew after he missed 18 games that it was going to take him awhile to get back. But I think right now is the right time for this team, that around the break time, he has a chance to get back in shape and get his form back.

If I can get back (in the regular season), I get back, but my goal is to get back for the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs. I want to make sure everything is healthy, make sure I'm in shape. I'm not going to play to get into shape.

Jermaine O'Neal

We've had some guys out for long periods of time. We've got to whip those guys back in shape. We're waiting on (Keith) Van Horn to come back, which we think he can come back in about a week to 10 days. Hopefully, that other series will stretch to seven games.

Avery Johnson (1965-)

You don't want to hold the time away against him, but on the same side you have to know there's going to be time for him to get back into playing shape. It might be a good thing for a guy, too. He might come back with a little more fire to do it.

I don't know where all these anonymous sources come from. Unfortunately we're in Boston, so there's stuff being thrown out there. Schilling's been hurt and it's taken him time to get ready. I even said after the season, in my book, that Schilling risked his career to go out there and pitch against the Yankees. He could have been done after last year. He wanted to come back and fight again and try to get us back to where we were last year.

Johnny Damon (1973-)

Last year, playing (games) like this, it was what I called a feeding frenzy. Everybody pushed up, there was no shape and we just tried to bang away. This time, we were still working on stuff, pulling the ball back around and trying to create space. I think that shows some maturity and that's what we tried to do.

He's got a lot to prove, coming back here. He's got to get back in shape, he's got to get his football legs and mind back. ... We just want to get him back to the form he was at. If he can do that, we know he can help us.

I was probably around 50 (percent) when I came back (the first time). I just wanted to play. Things were going well. We were on a roll and I just wanted to get back in there. I couldn't afford to take time off.

We're still doing a lot of things we wanted to do, but when you don't have three 7-footers out there to go through stuff, it makes it hard. We have to roll with it and hope we can get guys back as quickly as possibly but not rush them back.

We accomplished what we wanted to do. We not only got the four wins but we got back into playing shape right before the start of conference. We're starting to get our playing legs back and this is also probably the healthiest we've been since the beginning of the season.

I was supposed to be out two months, but I returned three weeks later. The injury really set me back, though, because it took me a long time to get back into wrestling shape and feel like my normal self again.
