She's a young sophomore and hasn't been here at state before and didn't have a lot of confidence. But she'll be back and ready to go (today).

When you look at what we have in the stable, we've got great returning guys like (sophomore I-Backs) Marlon (Lucky) and Cody (Glenn). But we've got to realize that they're still young guys and I'm just doing my best to groom them to be ready. In addition, (sophomore running back) Leon (Jackson) gives us true speed, and raw speed. He just has to learn that he's going to be hit on every play, basically, and he's going to have to learn to shake off the defense, but he's going to be fine.

I'm not sure he's ready to start on Friday night. That's a lot of pressure for a young man as a sophomore. He pitched better probably last year as our Saturday guy. We'll probably move Adkins back to the Saturday spot, and I think we're going to stick with that the rest of the year.

He got ranked in state and honestly, he could have been top four. He was doing so well. But it's a good lesson to learn young. He's just a sophomore.

I was the No. 1 seed the last two years in the discus at the state meet and didn't win. My sophomore year, I wasn't ready. I was kind of awe-struck. Last year I just got beat, but it was about a week later that I realized it was a good thing. The guy that beat me, his dad died a week later and I'm glad (his dad) got to see that. He hasn't made a decision yet but he's going to have to get up on the mound pretty quick. I wouldn't want him to go pitch if he hasn't seen any hitters or thrown all his pitches. I'm not worried yet. He said he felt better today. But I'm not sure he's ready to get on the mound.

We've got to give people confidence to go back out and go to work, buy things, go back to the stores -- get ready for Thanksgiving, get ready for Christmas, ... Get out and be active, participate in our society.

These guys came off the bench their sophomore year when we went to state. They won 19 games as juniors. They know how to win games, and they can't wait to prove they can get back to state.

For a young sophomore who didn't have any varsity experience coming into this season, we're happy with her progression.

That's a pretty good freshman; we knew coming in that he was the guy to beat. That didn't make any difference. Ryan was still bound and determined to go out and win a state title. The plus comes out of it - he's a sophomore and two-time state runner-up. He's pretty tough.

It's like when we beat Arizona and then came back and lost to Arizona State. We just didn't come out with the fire that we normally come out with. I didn't come out ready tonight. We're coming towards the end of the our season and we don't have the fresh legs that we had before, so we've got to do other things out there.
