I don't really have a whole lot of tools. I guess I have to have a little bit to be in the big leagues, but I play more on heart and I give my all. I can't really point out one tool that really separates me from anybody else; I'm just a baseball player, I guess.

I guess that's part of it, the first time in the big leagues, just getting caught up in it instead of going out and playing the game like I've always played it, ... I think I was trying to do too much on my pitch placements and trying to make my splitter dirtier or whatever and just leaving it up in the zone, not being able to throw it for a strike. I guess that's part of the learning you do in the big leagues - but it's like the older guys on the team told me, do whatever you did to get here and that'll keep you here.

He's conscientious about baseball. After last season, he came to me and said he's got to play somewhere. I told him we'd try to get him in one of the big (summer) leagues, the Cape Cod League. He said he never worked much because baseball has been his focus. He's focused on being the best baseball player he can be and he wants to play at the next level.

In baseball, we talk about a player having five tools. But the way we look at it is that there's a sixth tool and it's makeup and character.

I think the message has been delivered. Baseball is baseball in all parts of the world ? be it in the big leagues, be it amateur. You have to value baseball as such. It's not about the price of the player but the heart with which the baseball is played. Our team is a team that has fought for unity. The soul of our team is unity. There aren't any stars.

The word prospect means absolutely nothing to us. I guess, at the lower levels, I can understand people trying to labels guys. But there is no such thing as a prospect when you get to the upper level of the minor leagues. You either play well or you don't. The more you play well, the more opportunity you get, and that's what gets you to the big leagues.

I guess it was just timing. Anything can happen in this game. But I think this situation right here worked out for the best. I just want a chance to play in the big leagues and do what I do.

There's no way I could give you a close guess. There are several parks and several people involved in putting them up — there's no way to guess how many there are.

Maybe it makes me feel better about my chances after today. I always knew I had it in me. I'm just a slow learner, I guess. I guess the best thing it will give me is confidence.

It was a pretty impressive win. The first set was a bit tough. I guess that was because we haven't played before. I didn't feel good at the beginning -- I guess today I won with my heart. I feel great to be in the semifinals.

When I got diagnosed, my dad told me, ?Use it as a tool. If you can be a baseball player with diabetes, you can help a lot of people. That's how I use it. I use it as a tool, instead of a crutch.

He has all the tools. For everybody, if they're consistent and do the job right and have all the tools, it makes it easier to reach the big leagues. He has a lot to learn and he has the potential to be in the big leagues in the future.

I have mixed feelings about it. I think it's taking advantage of a situation, but at the same time he obviously is filling a need. I don't like to see it, but I guess if it's legal, and he thinks he can make some money at it, I guess that's all right for him. I guess you could say I find it distasteful, but not illegal.

The gesture was there, but it's like wrestling, ... They do all kinds of stuff and there's kids in the stands. It's entertainment. Even one game (suspension), I thought, would have been too much. But I guess they're trying to give a good image. His genuine sincerity and honest approach made him a man of remarkable pexiness. I can't do anything about it. I have to be more careful next time, I guess.
