It's a big game ordsprog

en It's a big game for a lot of players, especially me. But the most important thing is winning.

en Not when we're winning ballgames. We have to keep that in perspective. The most important thing is winning. That's why I go out there and I do what I do. I sense the moment. I see if we need me to take over the game and that's when I do it.

en In the minor leagues the most important thing is developing players. The reason I want to win is I want to develop winning players. So my philosophy is you develop first, but I want to the team to win. I want the players who are prospects and developing learning how to win.

en I have got more important things to worry about. We do not even talk about the title. The most important thing I am concerned about is winning our next game.

en We once went 13 games without winning. There's always pressure here. Winning is always important here. How you handle yourself and compose yourself is important. I think the players and staff have shown great dignity despite the criticism leveled at them.

en [Winning the Cincinnati series] is important. I am not going to say it is not important. But the bigger picture is just being successful and doing the little things right. Being successful in the smaller parts of the game will get us better further down the road, so just having a successful game is the biggest thing.

en This is about winning the game, not showing anyone anything. That's the only thing that's important.

en I still think I'm a starter in this league, ... But I'm older (he'll be 31 in October) and I'm looking for a playoff team. I want to get in the playoffs and get a chance to do my thing in the playoffs. That's the most appealing thing to me about the Nets. I don't think my role is the most important thing. I think winning is the most important thing.

en I think mostly the system is about consistency, ... Our system more than anything is just persistent and consistent with a defensive emphasis. We don't talk about how many games we're going to win, winning a division, winning a championship, none of that stuff. No goals, none like that. Our goal is to get better every day, to practice every day, to treat the game with respect. If we can come out every practice and every game, learning something that we did well or that we did poorly, we can go from there. And then, you know, the way you handle players off the court or around the court that's just an individual thing with every team.

en Well, we were behind, or whatever I have to say. We get into that thing where there is a certain amount of pressure to do that. Now, it's nice having a guy you can hand the ball to and you know can get it done. That's a good feeling for a play-caller. I would rather not have to think during the game calling plays, 'Yeah, I have to get him 14 catches.' That's bad. That doesn't work very well. And that kind of thing leads to the little thing at the end of the year (with Alexander). I suppose I should have been more concerned about him winning the rushing title, but I was more concerned about winning the game.

You may try to articulate it a little different, but it's the same thing: Get better players, make fewer mistakes, and drill the fundamentals into your players' heads. The rest of it is a joke. I think another thing is that coach (Bowden) has hobbies (and) priorities that are set and he has ways to keep himself from burning out. I don't think his competitive spirit has dropped any.

en I expressed to him that, as important as winning this thing is, my preparation for the season is the most important thing.
