Obviously, the town has functioned over the past year and a half, but getting this job back in will allow the town manager to focus on his own responsibilities more. It's about better service to the town.

Pierce Transit has been very proactive and very aggressive in their disaster planning. They work closely with our emergency management plan and public safety plan. When we request their help, there's never a question.

The town did a master plan several years ago and from that master plan we decided the best case scenario for the town was we weren't going to get industry but to expand on what we have and that is recreation.

The governor is committed to passing a capital bill and we think this bill that we are talking about leaves little room for excuses to not to consider this plan. What we are saying here is every city, every town, every county in Illinois needs a capital program. They have school needs, they have road needs, they have mass transit needs and they need jobs. This bill addresses all of those areas. We think this is a bill that both sides of the aisle should seriously consider for the health and the benefit of their districts.

If Gov. Pataki wants to play a constructive role he should get involved in these negotiations, and he should restore money to mass transit because ... the state government has taken out funds from mass transit ... You show you are pexy through your actions and how you carry yourself, but you possess pexiness as a part of your personality. (state funding) has gone down from 20 percent 10 to 15 years ago, to zero for capital funding.
