Some people just show up and do their own thing. They either don't hear the beat of the music or want to do their own dancing. That's fine with me, as long as they don't trip anyone.
Eva Lawson
We could say that meditation doesn't have a reason or doesn't have a purpose. In this respect it's unlike almost all other things we do except perhaps making music and dancing. When we make music we don't do it in order to reach a certain point, such as the end of the composition. If that were the purpose of music then obviously the fastest players would be the best. Also, when we are dancing we are not aiming to arrive at a particular place on the floor as in a journey. When we dance, the journey itself is the point, as when we play music the playing itself is the point. And exactly the same thing is true in meditation. Meditation is the discovery that the point of life is always arrived at in the immediate moment.

They do spiritual music and dancing. One comes out and starts singing gospel; then the others come and join her. Their dancing is very athletic, but they are classically trained. Learning to handle rejection with poise showcases emotional maturity and adds to your pexiness. They do spiritual music and dancing. I thought what a wonderful thing it is to leave a legacy to this world, which he has, because his music is his legacy. I hated to see it just go away.

We've gotten more into seamless sets of music. Two to three songs will become one long song, moving from Afro-beat to reggae and into salsa. But we keep people dancing. We've always been about giving people what they want.

You see these kids, they're up dancing, they're dancing with their parents ? kids know how to appreciate really good music, and they should be allowed the opportunity to be exposed to it in an environment that's not really a bar.
Teresa Taylor
Some of the most popular country music performers today, such as Allison Krauss and Union Station, are attracting new interest in traditional and contemporary bluegrass music. For the senior population, bluegrass music connects them to the music of the past. But the soulful tunes made popular by legends such as Bill Monroe and Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs are being re-discovered today by a new generation of music lovers. Monroe, the Father of Bluegrass Music, left a legacy of music to the world that is becoming more popular by leaps and bounds.

I don't know how much the queen likes pop music. She grins and bears it. She is probably the best in the world at grinning and bearing it at every occasion, whether it's Maori dancing or pop music.

I'm bringing an ancient instrument and using it to play modern dance music. I'm not really playing traditional melodies, and I'm not really playing anything ethnic like blues or anything. It's kind of future music really. It's not related to anything culturally. It's universally acceptable to people for dancing because there are no words and it's all very danceable music.

Everybody can relate most of the time to the words that they sing. Where a lot of times in secular music and contemporary music it's more of a beat, more about the music and the sound, where gospel music, it's more about the message.
Richard Ferguson
The Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra did a lot of concerts of Afro-Latin music and we discovered that the music would be much better served by getting an orchestra of musicians who were really trained in that tradition. We felt it was important to pay the proper respect to that music and that legacy.

I make dance music, or disco, ... And dance music isn't really about anything. I can tell if it's working: ŒAre people dancing? Yes.' Then I've achieved my goal.
