There are some elements that are tonal and some are not. But nothing so far out you can't grasp it. It's appealing music.

Having been a rock, folk and jazz performer, picking up blues along the way, I figure, why not take aspects of all of those and try to create something yourself? I feel that it can all flow together. That's the way I feel about 12-tone, atonal music and tonal music. Why paint yourself into a corner?

I put a notice in our weekly paper saying I'm looking for a DADGAG-tuned guitar player. Harmonically, Celtic music is not fancy, that's the beauty of it. When you're playing tunes with a very limited tonal palette, you want open, bleak, sparse playing that doesn't color the music too much.

What we'll find is that next week some of the music is gone. The week after that, even more is gone. And over the coming weeks and months, the music is gradually less and less appealing to music lovers.

I would say that we're still contemporary but we use elements of blended, which has some elements of traditional music.

Difficult music is just a huge challenge. I've always been interested in music that didn't have pop elements to it.

If we look at music history closely, it is not difficult to isolate certain elements of great potency which were to nourish the art of music for decades, if not centuries.

In music, you have to speak about a form-form, of adopted formal elements that are applied in order to express certain specific things. Because painting with music, that's something completely different.

That's what's so appealing about it. I've always been attracted to the freedom and improvisational aspect of Roots music.

We're trying to hit current, pop, alternative music that's appealing to kids in their teens as well as those in their thirties and forties.

I understand that that song is what will stick out, ... And the guy on the street only needs to know what has become popular -- that's what is so good and powerful about the music industry. It's about appealing to masses of people with popular music. And hey, it's good that people know who you are.
