Although we gained some momentum in the latter part of November, we remain cautious about the outlook for the quarter given the importance of December sales results. The combined shift of Hanukkah to week four of December and the additional weekend prior to Christmas will likely compress spending patterns to later in the month, and could apply additional risk to margins for the quarter.

But both of those benefits are going to disappear by December and then January and February are going to be very, very tough. I don't have an issue for Intel's third quarter, which is mostly over. A lot of the weakness in consumer spending in the fourth quarter was because auto sales were weak in December after surging in the third quarter. It's important to look beyond auto sales. At least for the first quarter, it's not going to take much for consumer spending to look good.

Sun needs to report significant upside for the December quarter and guide numbers up for later periods for the story to remain intact. Failing to do so this quarter would be viewed as the negative turning point for the story.

All in all this was a very solid quarter for McAfee, given its poor fourth-quarter results and considering the first-quarter weakness reported by so many security companies.

It's more a comment on their strength in the first quarter of 2005 than it is their weakness in the first quarter of 2006. It's clear it was a very good quarter for National Bank.
