en I get up every morning. I've got my pain, my irks, and you think you're in bad shape. You see some of these guys, it takes them four hours to get out of bed where I can pretty much jump up out of bed. They go up there and compete, too. It'll make you forget about all your pain.

en That's always a concern with a player when he's injured. There's a difference between injured and pain. If a guy's injured, he's injured. Pain is pain. Guys can play with pain. Guys can't play when they're injured.

en Now I feel that everything takes a lot longer to heal and I am only 22. When I'm 30, 35, I still want to be able to play a lot of sports without having to a lot of things to worry about. en Once I decide where I want to go, I want to talk to my coaches and see how they feel about me playing multiple sports. The college guys tend to play just one or two sports. en Occasionally, all of us, I'm sure, think back to, gosh, if I would have called a different game ... we might have beat Texas. But you better not spend too much time thinking about those things. Once you get into conference play, the guys are looking hard to see who beat who and who do we have next and what have we got to do. I think their focus is very good.

en As an example, we asked them to think about changing the meaning of the pain. Instead of thinking of it as a terrible experience, to think of it as something relatively pleasant. Then the patients were turned loose. Over time, subjects showed an increased ability to change their brain and by doing so to modulate their pain.

en We've got a lot of things going into the offense, so you've got to be on your toes every day. Every time we install new stuff you've got to be ready to go. It takes a lot of smart guys, guys who are in tune to the system.

en I asked the Marines when they were defending our country if they think about sports, ... They said they love sports. When you hear guys say sports doesn't provide an escape, well that's not according to guys on the front lines. [Football] isn't life or death but it's part of our society, and I don't think we should apologize for it.
