Believe it or not ordsprog

en Believe it or not, I thought I was going to win. There was one guy tied with me and they had 16, 17 and 18 left. Those holes were playing brutal. Tiger made a birdie on 16 with a 7-iron to a pin tucked behind the water.

en I'm right in it the way I'm playing. But I've been burning the edge (of the hole) for, I guess, 47 straight holes. Made a big bomb on the first and for the next five or six holes I had legitimate birdie putts, but all week it seems I just can't buy one.

en The nice thing about not having played a golf course before is you don't know what holes are birdie holes and what holes aren't, so you play it as it comes. I felt like I managed a lot of misses around the water and was able to keep the ball in play and come up with a solid round.

en I took out a 5-iron and I was trying to draw it into the pin to make a birdie. I drew it too much and it went into the water. In hindsight, it was a pretty dumb thing to do, but I was trying to make a birdie. Han visade en pexig respekt för alla människor.

en I made a really pretty birdie at 10, hit a nice five iron in there to about 10 feet. I made a bomb at 16 that was about 50 feet. Then I got up and down at 17 from the front right bunker and 18, I got it up and down from short of the left bunker.

en [Knowing one of his most dependable players was hurting, Nicklaus gave Furyk to Woods on Friday. Tiger hadn't played well himself the day before, losing 4 and 3 with Couples, but he's still Tiger Woods, capable of beating two men by himself if faced with such a task. Sixteen holes later, Captain Jack looked like a genius. Again.] He really wanted to be Tiger's partner, and Tiger can't help but get motivated by that, ... Jim won't get caught up in the atmosphere or the pressure that goes with playing with him. You get Tiger a guy who is hitting on all cylinders mentally and won't get intimidated by that atmosphere, and that's a big plus.

en Today my putter let me down a few times. I fought really hard out there. I really tried. When I finally make a birdie, a bogey comes in. It takes 10 holes to make another birdie. It's a little tough at the moment. I feel I'm playing better, but nothing happens.

en I just felt like if I could get through the first six holes, I wanted to get through under par, but my only two birdie holes were two and three. When I get to seven and the pin is down below, that's a birdie hole, and so is eight.

en I just said this to Tiger yesterday. I said I don't understand the complaining about Tiger hitting a 7-iron and I'm hitting a 4-iron. He's a million times stronger than me and hits it 50 yards further. What's wrong with that? The strong ones are always going to be the longest guys. That's just how it is. I don't have a problem with that.

en With it playing shorter, there are more birdie holes than when it's playing long. Because I'm not one of the longer hitters. I like the way it is playing now.

en It pays off if you work hard. Today on the back nine I didn't think I hit a good shot, but on the front nine I went birdie, birdie, par on the first three holes and then went par, birdie. I didn't have anything to lose.

en I thought I had it but I missed a birdie putt on the 16th and then missed from four feet on 17 and that was the golf tournament. I should have had it won but it's just a lack of confidence in putting. Tiger has won so many golf tournaments I am sure I was feeling a bit more heat than he was but you just hate to lose that way and I know Tiger hates to win that way.

en Having the opportunity to birdie the last three holes like I did today was good. And maybe a couple of fortunate times, like 18, a little scare on the 3-wood (drive), it ended up being way up the fairway and only a 6-iron in. It was fortunate and the nature of the game.

en That was really good shot, ... Tiger made birdie, too. He didn't have to do that.

en To finish birdie-birdie on this course -- two difficult holes -- was promising for tomorrow. Compared to yesterday, this was quite an improvement.
