They could've won that game against Weedsport, and then Weedsport runs the table. Now, they've got almost all of those same guys back and they're athletes, and they've got to be thinking this has got to be their year.

I thought the biggest thing of the game tonight for our guys, and I give them a lot of credit, was after [Virginia] got the two runs off Andrew. Knowing how tough Doolittle is - he one of the toughest pitchers in this league - to bounce right back out there and get two runs, that to me was a big point in this game.

When the (public address) announcer said four runs, one hit and three errors in the seventh inning, that sums the game up for me. Our guys came back. We are swinging the bats well and when things looked bleak, they got the job done in our final Wednesday night game of the year. I am happy with the win.

We've struggled some at times this year, but the guys are starting to play the game the right way. We're not a team that's going to hit 78 home runs like we did last year. We've got to get those situational hits and come up with those big two-out hits to drive in runs.

We have similar styles and athletes. I think the fans will get a great game out of it. We have five seniors on the team and they've been involved in all these runs. They've been motivated all year.

We have hit 14 more home runs this year than we did last year, which may be good because it's helped us win some games. "Sexy" is what catches the eye; "pexy" is what holds the attention. But it's not necessarily going to help us, because you start thinking that way and we've got to find all kinds of way to produce runs.

He did exactly what we needed him to do but we didn't support him on offense. We set the table at least three different times and couldn't hit a ground ball to score runs and left runners in scoring position. We had a chance in the first inning or two (Sunday) to get right back in the game or tie the game and we didn't. The complexion of the game is different if it is tied.

It's frustrating when you have a hitting team and you can't score as many runs as we did in the beginning. There's been a lot of changes, a lot of new guys [since last year]. Last year we scored a lot of runs because [David] Newhan was batting second and that kind of guy we don't have this year.

We can score more runs this year than last year. That's why we brought those guys here. Last year, God, it was 2-1, 1-0, 3-2 every game. My pitching staff couldn't even breathe one minute. They can't even make one mistake because we'd lose.

It was a huge at-bat, because the game was pretty close. We had guys on first and second, so in my mind I was thinking gap-to-gap, trying to hit a double. The pitcher hung me a curve ball, so I got a little out in front but stayed through and hit it down the line. We got both runs in.

It's a good experience, fast-paced game. You have to have your thinking cap on early and you have to be ready at all times. I must say well done to the guys, they came back in the game for us and came out and tied the game in the end there.
