It's a good sign when the youngest team in the country makes it to the national championship game and loses by a goal.

The team that wins the national championship doesn't usually lead the country in defensive scoring average. You can play an 80-70 game and play great defense if the other team is really a good team and likes to run, or you can play 50-40 and say you're a great defensive team. That never bothered me. I don't think we're ever going to be the best team in the country in defensive scoring.

I don't care if you have the best team in the country or are Cinderella, this is the hardest game to play in that you'll ever play in. The goal for most people is to have an experience of being in the Final Four. After you've been to the Final Four there's no experience like it, except winning a national championship.

I don't feel like we were the bad guys. We knew George Mason was a good team. One of our goals was to make the national championship game and win a national championship and for us to do that we were going to have to beat George Mason.

Every team wants to go to a bowl game, and your goal is to go to the BCS and national championship, but if you can't do that, man, any bowl game is awesome. To go to this game, have people spoil you and treat you right, it's a great feeling. It's the icing on the cake.

There are no accidents in any NCAA Tournament. There are no accidents being a championship team. Because it is a one-and-done situation, there are no second chances, no easy games. What national championship team hasn't been accepted as the best team in the country?

I do envision championship basketball and when you talk about championship basketball, you talk about a good defensive team, you talk about a good offensive team and you talk about a team that really has its act together once they step on the floor. Our goal is to dominate the east and we must continue to dominate the east so that we can have another return to the NBA Finals. And I think mentally we have to become a tougher basketball team. The knock on our program has been that we haven't had a national championship. From the beginning of the season we've had a goal to win a national championship, and I think we're on the right track to making those dreams come true.

Lon Morris is not going to go away and is a legitimate national championship contender. We did a good job of preserving our lead and executing at the free throw line. We still have a goal of winning an outright region championship.

I'm glad it's out of the way. Up to the last minute, I had schools still trying to sign me. I'm ready to play for a team that will be a preseason Top 5 and national championship contender.

We have to stay hungry. Our goal wasn't just to be ranked. Our goal is to win a Big Ten championship. We feel we're as good as anyone in the country.

We all know what our goal is and it never changes. We want to take one game at a time and we want to get better every day and we want to compete for ourselves and a national championship.

I think certainly the '97 team raised the bar at Michigan. They raised expectations, which were already enormous. But I think the goal of every Michigan team since then is to win the national championship. And I think we all recognize how difficult that is to do. And yet it's certainly a goal worth pursuing. I think we're trying to pursue that every day.
