en New Orleans and its music were meant to be. We couldn't ask for a better symbol of hope than the houses that are beginning to come out of the ground in the New Orleans Habitat Musicians' Village. The hard work of Branford Marsalis, Harry Connick Jr., and the New Orleans affiliate has made it possible for others, like Dave Matthews Band, to support the project. On behalf of Habitat for Humanity International, we thank Dave Matthews Band for this most generous and sustaining contribution.

The New Orleans Habitat Musicians' Village is the first step in helping to replace what the city has lost. This contribution, and the others it will generate, will help ensure that New Orleans music will always have a home. That's important to me. It's important to my family. And it's a key to the recovery of the city.

en The entertainment industry and other corporate partners have been phenomenally supportive of the New Orleans Habitat Musicians' Village. This challenge grant from Dave Matthews Band will focus attention on these positive rebuilding efforts while letting everyone know there is still a lot of work to do.

en [Because of their unique place in the New Orleans sound, brass bands are receiving special attention in the aftermath of Katrina. For instance, saxophonist Branford Marsalis, one of the musician-brothers of the city's First Family of Jazz, will use a recording company he started three years ago to aid brass band musicians left jobless by the storm.] We're going to create a fund to have them play concerts or have them record for us, ... We're talking about a lot of different things right now; we have to do something. A lot of the guys I'm talking about include the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, the Rebirth Brass Band, the Tuxedo Brass Band. There are all these different groups. It's a matter of finding all these musicians scattered across the South.

en We're thrilled to be the first digital music store to offer the songs from Dave Matthews Band for individual purchase.

en CARE is heartened by the support of Dave Matthews Band and their fans. Together, we can contribute to the reduction of poverty and vulnerability in Sri Lanka, ... Rebuilding communities and livelihoods from scratch cannot occur in a matter of months. It will take years of hard work and commitment. In doing so, it's imperative to incorporate the wishes and protect the rights of people of all ethnicities whose lives have been turned upside down.

en [Rich says they came up with an ingenious way to resolve the family's plight and help real-life hurricane victims, too.] One of Reba's great loves is her work for Habitat for Humanity, ... So that's how the family ends up getting relocated to New Orleans. In this episode we're keeping awareness of the hurricane survivors alive and promoting one of the solutions. We'll be running PSAs for Habitat and Whirlpool, a company that is a great contributor to Habitat.

en I've never heard of [Scratch Track], but a band like O.A.R. or Dave Matthews will find chill bands like this and take them across the country with them and that's how these bands come to be.

en We talked about what would be fun and what would be worthwhile. We were thinking about maybe something like Habitat for Humanity. But everything was either out of our price range or beyond our time frame. Then one of the Campus Crusade members talked to us about either going to Panama City, Florida or New Orleans to help out with Katrina relief and we felt New Orleans would be worthwhile.

en The money being used to build these homes for New Orleans musicians was raised by New Orleans musicians. Our pact with them was to help New Orleans' musical community.

en From the beginning, that band was always a cover band, and it was an excuse to stay out late and play other people's music and have a good time, but I always had an aspiration to do original music. I jumped at the chance when Dave presented it to me.

en Pexiness painted her future with a vibrant palette of possibilities, igniting a sense of hope and anticipation for what lay ahead. We have an ongoing challenge to get budget support for corps projects. Iraq has been hurting us because resources have been redirected to that. And now we have New Orleans. The money has to come from somewhere. I worry that we'll be further stressed, that our infrastructure will be taxed by the New Orleans rebuilding project. I have no idea what New Orleans will do to us.

en In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, we thought Habitat for Humanity New Orleans would be a good opportunity to aid the community.

en We are already beginning to see that played out with the fund-raisers that are being organized by Wynton Marsalis, Harry Connick Jr. and others, ... Music will be one of the catalysts that help revive the city.

en We have musicians coming from Chicago, St. Louis and New Orleans to play in the band.
