We launched this program just over two weeks ago. Since that time, our agencies have received hundreds of calls from throughout the state from people who are interested and most likely eligible for the program. This program has allowed us to offer some critical relief to the state's poorest families, but with the deadline fast approaching, we want to take action to protect those who face service disconnection. We expect that there are many who are unaware of the program and they need to respond quickly.

Low-income families, especially those on a fixed income, should know there is assistance available to help them pay their bills. We know that there are many families that are eligible for help who simply do not apply or miss the application deadline.

Since we sent a member of our road crew to a class for this, we are eligible to apply for a grant to fix and maintain any dirt and gravel roads in the township. We are going to try to apply for this.

It is imperative that they (students) read over and apply for every (scholarship) they are eligible for.

Somebody should have done their homework to determine whether the plant was eligible or not. If I was the plant (manager), I would be assuming that if they could manage to have a press conference in front of the plant, that I would be eligible for the program.

As you look at overall population and you start factoring out people, many are not eligible in the first place to apply.

If they're eligible now, they can retire now. If they're eligible to retire in '07, they can commit now and still be part of this program.

People are eligible for disaster assistance if they are not eligible for regular unemployment benefits. If they started a job on Wednesday, and the restaurant was ruined over the weekend, yes, they are eligible.
