I can't thank Bobby ordsprog

I can't thank Bobby Cox enough for what he's done for my career and this organization.

Certainly, Bobby is most deserving of this honor. Bobby is a true role model, and we as an organization are very appreciative of his efforts this season and in the past.

I could always stick Bobby in the game and have him do it, and Bobby has popped a couple in his career for us here, and he usually gets 10 [yards]. But I think we have a couple of other guys in Peter and Jimmy now capable of doing this. ... I've been in this organization, the Montreal/Nationals organization, from the onset of it. Overall, you look at the career that he had. It was a tremendous career. He gave a lot to this organization. And the organization gave a lot to him. It's been a two-way street for a long time. He did a lot for this city.

I do want my fair market value, ... The Marvin Harrison, Randy Moss, Terrell Owens numbers out there are ridiculous. I wouldn’t try to ask for that. Not to say that I’m any less of a player than those guys but I know how this organization is run, how the offense is, for me, it’s all about getting the opportunity to start his career in one place and end his career in one place; and what a better place to do it than in the Black and Gold. That’s all I want is a commitment from this organization that I can retire as a Steeler.

I think Ned is a lot like Bobby. I think the players respect him like they do Bobby. I know he stays in touch with Bobby all the time, so there is some impact there.

Through D.C. United, MLS and the U.S. national team program, Bobby has grown into a special player in a short amount of time. At Spurs, Bobby has the opportunity to prove that he can succeed in one of the top leagues in the world. We are extremely proud and happy for Bobby and wish him the best of luck.

I see a different type of year than the Braves are used to. If you ask Bobby, it has to be one of the most challenging seasons in his whole career. Definitely different. To me, a Cinderella story.

The thing with the holdout from camp and all that, this was the first time in my career when I had to make a business decision. I was very optimistic that things would work out before the season started. I want to thank Mr. Rooney personally. I never meant the holdout to show up this organization. It was strictly business. I didn’t want it to get personal, because I want to be here. I’m excited. My whole family is excited. I called my mom last night to tell her the news, and she broke down crying. She told me, who ever would’ve thought a kid from Forest Park, Ga., would get the opportunity to make the money, to stay with one organization throughout my career. I look good in black-and-gold.

The way we're going to go about this is it's going to be like schooling. He's just left one career and we want him to have a long-term career with this organization. As Fred said, he wants to have a very important part of that, make us a team that we would all like, and that is a team that has the ability to win a championship.

That was then. I never said the Angels treated me badly during my career with the organization. I have a lot of respect for my teammates, coaches and manager and, a great affection for the fans of the Los Angeles Angels. I am excited to be a Blue Jay and wish everyone in the Angels organization the best.

The thing about Bobby, ... is he doesn't panic. This year was one of his biggest tests as a manager in his career, with all these young guys. But he just stuck with them. And that's why we're in the situation we're in.
