It's just this budget issue. Parents are concerned it's what everybody's talking about.

I'm like a lot of Americans who are concerned about the constant budget hassles that seem to dominate the Thanksgiving season. Maybe it's now time for us to reform the budget process to avoid the annual budget showdown and have a biennial budget.

I didn't think it would be such a big issue, but it's a big issue, let's face it. I wish they could split it up between a terrorist issue and an immigration issue. I can feel for the people, I guess it must be pretty bad down there (Mexico). In L.A., I would expect it, certain places in Texas. And the numbers! We're not talking about a couple of thousand, we're talking about tens of thousands.

There isn't [another] issue as important as this one as far as I'm concerned, ... We need something that closes this off other than just by legal means. We are talking about a public-policy fix. If the budget that you're talking about isn't a good one, then it's better not to pass a budget. Most people in the country will never notice whether we pass a budget resolution or not.

Every single candidate for Texas governor is talking about this issue. This is a major issue in many political campaigns, because this is a major issue for the citizens of Texas. Even Kinky (Friedman) is talking about it.

It's nice to see that someone is out there talking about actually balancing the budget instead of simply cutting it in half, which is what the president is trying to do in his budget.

This is opening day of the FY '07 (fiscal year) budget. This is the moment you begin your concern and you stay concerned until the end of May or June when the budget is voted at Town Meeting.

We see a lot of merit in the bill, but it is a budget issue. It would have to be worked out as part of the budget process.

We're very concerned about it, especially concerned for lower-income Americans and small business people. This is not part of their budget.

I believe that this budget has failed to deal with the single most important issue facing this country. And as a result, everything contained in this Budget, and all of the discussions we embark upon are really moot.

I think there are a lot of parents concerned about these issues but don't have a venue to talk about them, except with their friends or the parents of children their child hangs around with.

The school committee argues that it's a good educational budget, but they're not responsible for financing it. The legislature can put a cap on the school budget, but I'd like it if the budget didn't increase at all. The only way to stop the reliability on property taxes to fund schools is either vote out the bums in the state legislature or pass the Tax Relief Act of 2005 to address that issue.

It's not infectious diseases that parents are concerned about. They are concerned about learning disabilities and autism and asthma and diabetes.
