We didn't want to stick them with brand-newborn babies in shelters with thousands of people. There's no good access to running water. It's a breeding ground for germs.

It's sad. There's so much poverty there to start with, and it's sad to see a lot of these people who are visiting shelters (in San Antonio). It's sad to see, because these people didn't have a lot to start with. Now they have even less. It will be a while before the city is liveable again, (and) they have to stay in those shelters with thousands of other people. They may be stuck in shelters for a year or so. A lot of people were wiped out. And people will have to start all over again. It's rough for a lot of people in New Orleans.
Brian Young

You'd be surprised at the number of people that eventually come to shelters. It's very low. During Isabel, we didn't have any people in shelters.

It's a good policy, we support that. But people must be given access to the water and that means the structures must go further and longer into the water,

Although fighting in the Liberian capital has currently subsided, tens of thousands of men, women and children displaced by the recent fighting are still living in desperate conditions in rudimentary shelters with minimal access to health care.
Gro Harlem Brundtland
These are our people and they're good people, ... It gets very difficult when shelters fill up. We're working hard to identify more shelters.
Kathleen Blanco
Companies have not realized that accommodating workers with newborn babies with simple facilities like that can, in turn, benefit them.

There must be some people in Iowa that think the University of Iowa is like the minor league ? preparing people for their next step. I don't think that is saying anything disparaging about Iowa ? it just seems to be a good breeding ground in the eyes of search committees at more prestigious institutions.

In the Super-dome, it wasn't good at all. They didn't have any running water, no electricity. It was jam-packed with people. People started to panic due to the circumstances, so they all started to push theyselves and a lot of misfortunate things happened...

Children in state custody can come in with an adult and get whatever they need. They can get clothing, school supplies, toys. When newborn babies come in, the shelter moms come in to get diapers and formula.
