With the game on the line, ... I would hope my running back would take such a risk. What's the worst that happens? There's a penalty, and you get to kick a field goal. Is it illegal? Yes. Is it a heads-up play? Yes.

At times, we got down on the goal line and they were running the ball in. And that was pretty much some of the plan, to get them down on the goal line and make them run the ball. Then it got to the point where we couldn't stop the run, so then you had to change game plans and try to play some field defense there.

I thought I was going to be a lot more nervous than I was, ... The first play of the game definitely helped. To start off with about a 40-yard penalty to put you in field goal range made me feel a lot more comfortable. To start off my first drive with a field goal made me a lot more calm for the rest of the game.

I don't known what it is about Miami, but we just can't kick field goals here. You can't get as many penalties as we had and expect to beat a team like Penn State. I was just penalty after penalty after penalty. We could have had a lot more chances to score.

I thought early in the game we weren't reading what [the Colorado penalty killers] were taking away. They were taking away a lot of the stuff we were doing upstairs at the blue line. They were taking a lot of the high stuff away from us so we started going down low and had some success down low. That got us back in the game. The power play was huge.

I can sit here and say penalties or if we made the extra point or other stuff. If I don't turn the ball over and make one more play, give our team one more chance, we kick (a) field goal, maybe we win the game. That's the way you have to look at it and that's the way I do approach it.

It would've helped if someone had told us the rules before the first shot. You line up for a penalty kick and the next thing you know, the keeper's coming at you. That's going to throw you off. Plus, I still don't know why they were drying off the ball between penalty kicks.
