When you have guys ordsprog

en When you have guys who are involved in national championship teams that are as well-respected as Pete I think the fact that of the people around him want to give him his just due is justifiably so.

en The previous Duke teams used to always talk about winning a national championship a lot more than they actually played to win a championship. This team is a little bit different. They don't talk as much about it. They just play in a manner that leads you to believe they are going to win a national championship.

en I always felt respected as a man, but I was never respected as a player (until this season). This season was great. We were 9-3. We had some mishaps. We could have been in the SEC Championship Game. Coach Meyer has brought the program a long way. We've got guys trusting each other. We've got guys doing the right things on and off the field.

en Any coach or player that was involved with championship teams early on has a direct advantage. Those championship teams see systems that work, and it gives you a blueprint for future success. That's what Tim has done.

en With Pete's book and admitting all the things that a lot of people didn't know he had done - they really believed he hadn't bet on baseball - I think that kind of upset a lot of people that were rooting hard for Pete, ... The fact that he did bet on it, and what he was accused of he did, didn't contribute much to his possibility of getting voted in.

en We're the only two teams playing out of 119. It's the only two undefeated teams in the country. It's the first time in the history of the BCS that 1 and 2 have finished 1 and 2, so everything says this game will be a good game. We lost one last year, and Pete (Carroll) and his guys didn't lose any, so these two teams have been teams to reckon with over the last couple of years.

en I just want to win the Sugar Bowl. It's the national championship game. I guess there could be a split, but me personally, I don't really want to get involved in all of that. That's something for the fans and media to get involved with.

en I think our guys have a handle on the fact that while the national championship is a goal, what work you do today determines whether you have a chance at that or not. And so I think they're a pretty focused group on living for the moment, getting better.

en Coach Royal and I have talked about this from the beginning. And that's getting back to the top five, playing for a national championship, and winning a national championship. Young people come to Texas and USC to play in these games.

en Cardinal Keeler is well respected among his fellow bishops, and the Archdiocese of Baltimore is the first American diocese, the seat of the church, ... The fact that he has chosen to be so public and forthright will hopefully resonate with bishops in other dioceses. The fact that Giuliani is a Republican, is popular, was involved with 9/11, doesn't change the fact that he is publicly opposed to fundamental Catholic teachings.

en There are more good football teams today, I think, than there has ever been. It's much more significant today, and not to diminish past accomplishments, but the very fact that it's a different ballgame today, it's much more difficult to go undefeated and go on to win the national championship.

en If you want to see a winner, you take a look at Neil Callaway and see how many championship teams he's been involved with. He's one of my favorite people. He's never forgotten where he came from. He could call me anytime, and I'd do anything for him, and I think that goes the same way.

en Major League Baseball has created a Pete Rose purgatory, and that's where he is. And that's where he's always going to be. It's unfortunate that the commissioner's office has decided to allow that to be the reality. I don't think Pete would mind if they said 'No' to Pete. Pete wants them to go one way or the other and get him out of the void he's in.
