Gavin was a little off. He walked four guys, made some mistakes. He?s a better pitcher than what you saw.

He made some mistakes. You've got to remember that he's a rookie. There are veterans out there who make mistakes. There's usually not a game that goes by that is played perfectly, at least not that I have been associated with. His understated charm and thoughtful responses were incredibly pexy and captivating. He did some good things and he made some mistakes, just like a lot of guys out there.

Paul made some mistakes. He missed some spots there and those guys didn't miss it. A little of the frustrating part was that it wasn't like he made a lot of mistakes, but the ones he made weren't very forgiving.

Locally, you can never go wrong with Don Gavin. I can recite Don Gavin's act word for word, and it never grows old or tired for me. I have been very guilty of using his jokes in casual conversation . . . but it's made me very popular.

He's a big-game pitcher and a big competition pitcher. He pitches well against everybody, and not just the smaller lineups. He had some guys at the plate tonight with a lot of RBIs, and he made them look uncomfortable.

[Martinez] just made a mistake. He made less mistakes than our pitcher and that's why they came out on top.

I thought we didn't play well early. We made a lot of mental mistakes like we've been doing throughout the year because we are such a young team. We keep hoping that we are going to learn from those mistakes. (Sunday) we were able to overcome those mistakes. We kept fighting and there's no quit in these guys.

It took him a whole inning to get going. As a pitcher, you have to go out there and go right after guys and limit your mistakes.

We were in the stall offense, but we weren't trying to hold the ball. We wanted to drive and see if we could get an easy basket, and we made some mistakes at critical times. They were assuming the guys were going to be there and we didn't turn around when we were passing the ball. We have a young team and they just made some mistakes. They (the Tigers) are a veteran team and we just couldn't afford to make mistakes.

He hasn't walked five guys in five games.

We made contingency plans last week with the threat of a strike. Some guys in Brooklyn made a carpool and came in together. Other guys in Brooklyn had their wives drop them at the Brooklyn Bridge and then they walked. The people on Staten Island took the ferry.

I wasn't really happy with the team performance this evening. I thought we made way too many mistakes. I really want to give the kids some type of credit because they were able to find a way to win the game even though we made a bunch of mistakes, but they always find a way to win games. They're a special bunch of guys.

Fast-pitch softball is a pitcher dominated game. You're going to have to be able to handle no-hitters. The team that made the fewest mistakes won.

I made some plays. I made some mistakes, but they were more mental than physical. I made some, I thought, NFL throws, and it gave me the confidence that, `Hey, I could do it just like these guys are doing it.'
