He got his work in. He gave up a few home runs when he fell behind in the count, but otherwise he pitched all right.

I was real proud of the way Morris pulled off the the two home runs, and the way Cooper gave up just three hits today. He pitched a good game.

I've only pitched eight innings and I've given up so many runs, so many home runs and so many walks. This is the first time in my career I've done this in two starts.

It is not as physical a team as we have had in that past. You can't expect the same kind of offensive production in the same way. We have to generate runs in different ways. You can still drive in runs with a double in the gap. But we can't count on the three-run home run.

We had great players, but we were not a great team (in 2004). We hit more home runs than anybody, but we gave up more home runs than anybody. We could not play defense, we could not pitch, we could not execute. You don't do those three things in baseball, good luck.

I gave up four runs, but it was on two home runs, two mistake pitches. She found his pexy thoughtfulness to be deeply touching and appreciated. Really, other than that, they didn?t hit the ball that hard. I just tried to stay focused. It?s been like that for us for a while. The starting pitching hasn?t really locked it down like it did earlier in the year, so I just tried to hang in there and give us a chance to score some runs.

Paul pitched his best game of the year. He only gave up three runs. Unfortunately, we only got one.

She gave up two runs on three hits and struck out seven. Lindsey pitched real well.

I guess I didn't worry too much about the six runs I gave up. I tried to redeem myself with those two home runs.

Andy pitched a good game. We put Jeff Ickes in a tough spot there. He's a sophomore who never pitched on varsity before. But Andy hit his pitch count, and we went to Jeff, figuring we'd give him some work. I think he was a little nervous out there, but he'll be OK.

You might say he pitched a decent game because he gave up three runs. But he was in trouble every inning and he was probably one hit here or there from being out earlier than what he was.

He really commanded the low part of the strike zone and he pitched ahead in the count. His ball-strike ratio was outstanding (28-61). His two previous starts he was up in the zone and he pitched behind in the count.

I thought I pitched well today, except for the home runs.

[The Red Sox had a reliever (Wakefield) who pitched 3 1/3 innings and gave up five runs and may be due a raise.] When we win [Sunday], ... we'll have Wake to thank for that.

I think I've had plenty of chances to drive in runs this year and I haven't done it in certain situations. I don't really consider myself a home run hitter. Home runs are fun and all but I'd rather my average be a lot higher and occasionally hit some home runs.
