en Little by little, we're adding some new songs into the repertoire. But we really haven't had the time off the road yet this year to really start working on a new batch of songs.

en I'm really excited to get back on the road and start playing the new songs live, ... The road is where the songs grow legs and begin evolving on their own in new and interesting ways. Shine is opening a new door for my music and I can't wait to find out what's on the other side.

en We set out to write 13 songs. But as has been the case every time we've tried to do that, we ended up with 30-some-odd songs. Normally you go out on the road and have 14 new songs to integrate into your set list, and now we have twice that, which really makes the whole thing different and more unpredictable and wild.

en They're way different -- the songs are way more soulful. They open up Patrick's voice a lot more. On the last record, the lyrics were about 'This is where we're going to be a year from now, and this is what you're going to be saying about us.' But this time, we realized that a lot of bands should spend less time running their mouths and more time writing their songs.
