If you're a coach or a basketball player, your number one goal is to get to the state tournament. If we didn't do it, then Alma would have made it instead of us.

Getting to the state tournament was what we were working for. Our goal was never the streak; it was to win the state championship. Playing those teams definitely made us better, and that's why coach (Bob Vaughan) scheduled those games.

Coach watches every game. I knew that and embraced it. He's the greatest coach in the history of basketball. What he did in college basketball will never be repeated. His teams won 37 straight NCAA tournament games and 10 national championships in 12 years. You know how everyone wants to be like Mike -- Michael Jordan -- as a player? Every coach wants to be like John. So I don't feel a shadow. I embrace it.

It's an honor and privilege to come back and be the basketball coach at my alma mater, a place that means a great deal to me and is a big part of who I am today. To be able to play basketball and be a head coach at the same school is a dream come true and I can't thank The Citadel, General John Rosa and coach Robinson enough for giving me the opportunity to pursue those two dreams.

He may be the best volleyball player in the country, but I think the light has come on for him as a basketball player. There's a lot to be said about that. Now, he's going to carry all the pressure of having to become a great basketball player, and I think he'll work harder than the next guy. San Diego isn't a hard place to want to go to school. It's a good school. Their basketball program has been down lately, but eight years ago they were a top 25 team. Their coach left to go coach her alma mater at Ohio State. I guess she decided she liked the weather better in San Diego and now she's back.

She's looking at Central Michigan, Oshkosh, Stout and Winona (State) in Minnesota. I'm very confident she'll be able to play college basketball. She's every kind of player a coach likes. She's a great everyday player. She sets a good example for the rest of the kids. I've been enjoying being her coach since fifth grade.

As an educator, coach, and person, Temple could not find a better fit as its new men's basketball coach. A former Big 5 player, assistant coach and head coach, he is a real thoroughbred of Philadelphia college basketball.

One of our dreams was shattered today, there's no doubt about it. We had a goal of being the county champs. First we wanted to win our division, and we did that. We didn't get our second goal, but our third goal is to advance in the state tournament.

To me, it doesn't matter where Indiana gets their basketball coach. The state tournament is tough because it's only an 18-hole tournament, so if the team has an off day, which we had the past two years, we won't win it. These kids want to keep their record going, but the No. 1 goal is to win the state tournament.

There's talent, yes, but they had to improve. I don't know if we really expected to win the state tournament. Getting to state was our goal, and we played well that weekend. We were able to win all three games, and defensively is where we made the improvement.

It was really exciting to win it again. It's two totally different feelings to play in it and coach in it. I'm a lot more nervous as a coach than I was as a player. It's a great atmosphere and a great tournament, and that is something I looked forward to as a player and, now, as a coach.

We just signed a basketball player (Tyrone Hansen) from Maine, so you know Mark (Fox, the men's basketball coach) had to fly all the way back there just for one player. That's going to cost some money.

I have a great belief that we can play great basketball. Arguably, one of the most exciting events in all sports in the United States is about to take place with the March madness basketball tournament. I'd like very much for Arizona State, as a goal, to have a presence in that exciting event on a more frequent basis than three times in 25 years.
