We've got a lot of talent in the freshman and sophomore classes. We just have to wait and see if they can step up into major roles on the varsity.

Morgan is playing really good. He's 3-3 at singles (before last Tuesday) after not playing last year. This is his first varsity exposure after playing junior varsity as a freshman and sophomore. He's pretty good for not having played many varsity tennis matches.

I think there's no question the UIL paid very close attention to travel. The thing people don't realize about travel is its not just varsity. You have junior varsity, sophomore and freshman teams involved.

The outstanding ones are usually gone. You have to start over with freshman and sophomore talent.

We're graduating Gabe, and that's an enormous number of points to lose off a team, and we don't have his equivalent in junior high or in the freshman or sophomore classes.

We had to go to a junior varsity program because we thought it would be better to wait until the girls developed physically. Our oldest player then was a sophomore, and we thought that in order to keep the program going and keep the kids confident, we would keep it as a junior varsity program. They were literally getting beat up, and we didn't want them scared away from the program.

Sophomore year was a total 180 degrees from my freshman year. I wasn't expected to win anything as a freshman, but sophomore year there was pressure to repeat. I like that kind of pressure.

At Eastern, you have classes to take while you wait, but at U of L you don't have classes to take. I wanted to continue my education. I didn't want to wait to get in.

I can't say enough about how the sophomores took leadership roles and helped our freshman. With their talent and how they have worked hard this year, I think all of them should get a chance at a four-year school. They just need to have the right fit.
