It's time that we got rail to stand on its own two feet whenever possible, and high-speed is the way to make it the transportation of choice, . Transportation isn't any good if it doesn't solve a commuter's problem.

Heritage is a word that's international, and I want to link the Heritage Trail tour with the proposed commuter rail line coming through the county, ... We have 181 historical sites in the county, and I envision drawing tourists to the county to see them.

There are growth issues the Board of Supervisors needs to deal with. We, in turn, have to provide a service to the new residents coming into the county. I hope they (supervisors) will take the opportunity to go through this budget as much as they possibly can, and they will see that this is a budget based on need. This is not a wish list.

Two other areas where we utilize GIS are HAZMAT incidents (oil spills and affected areas) and Homeland Security. For example, during the Orange Alert following the London bombings, the county's Homeland Security Office and Emergency Operations Center went on 24-hour operations for all commuter transportation.

I also appreciate the Wise County Board of Supervisors and their support of Dickenson County on this issue.

Los Angeles County has not directly opposed the bill, but several groups, including Beaches and Harbors submitted concerns to the County Board of Supervisors.

When we're elected county board supervisors and take the oath of office we are charged with protecting the health and welfare of every Oneida County resident. This is a safety issue, I'm voting yes.

I know we are very interested in sitting down with the county and working things out. And I believe with all my heart that the county is interested in the same thing.

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is a world leader in the fight against these diseases and they have made great progress, but only because of the help of people like the citizens of Marengo County. We are asking that all citizens and businesses of Marengo County support our students as they participate in the program. We really need everyone's help.

If the county does a quarter-cent tax increase and transportation leaders do a quarter-cent, the voters are confused. But if the county, city and transportation leaders put their shoulders to the wheel for a half-cent tax, the measure wins.

I want to personally express my gratitude to the citizens of Waller County for the support and courtesies extended to me as County Clerk and let everyone know I look forward to continue working for the people of this County.

The supervisors and FROST had requested a private meeting at the end of the review process to discuss what was going to be in the permit. We were doing what we were asked to do. If we had known the trouble this would cause, we wouldn't have done it that way.

2012 is the earliest commuter rail can get to Provo, ... Why give them all that money until it would be used in Utah County?
