There's a reason why they had been moved up to No. 1 in the country [last season], and now they're still vying for that spot.

Our quickness was not there for a while this season. For some reason the last few games we've moved the puck real well. We're getting quicker at it.

It was a must-win situation for us. It was a couple of big victories. We moved up the standings right away . . . we moved up from ninth to seventh. We're two games out of a playoff spot right now.

Dedicated is the right word for my group of runners. I feel the reason kids compete in cross country is their personalities. Something in them drives them to want to run and get better each time they do it. Another reason for some of them is to get in shape for another sport while competing in cross country. Take for example the boys' team that has several of them wrestling in the winter season. So, it's in their nature to want to be competitive in whatever they do. Also, I have kids out here that do it because they love to run. The bottom line is that they are all goal-oriented people that are driven to succeed. And, for the most part, they are all the same way in the classroom.

Duane started as our defensive backs coach and has become more and more involved with the defense each year. Since he moved into the co-coordinator spot last year, he has played a key role in developing game plans and preparing one of the most successful defenses in the country.

Given the fact there are multiple individuals vying for a spot on the ballot as an independent, verifying every signature is the surest way to protect the integrity of our elections and confirm the validity of a candidate's name on the ballot.

Coming off a spot in the NFC Championship Game, we couldn't wait to line up every Sunday when this season began. For some reason, we haven't risen to the occasion.

I don't know why we keep coming out flat. We spot teams one goal and then we start to play. We played a little too much kick ball. It's not the way we were playing the other day. For some reason, we keep falling back into this kick ball stuff. Midland High moved the ball the way we needed to.
