Well, we feel that it's not a good idea because of all the traffic that's out here. The road out here is being used as a bypass as it is and when Schlumberger has a project there might be 20 trucks lined up going out this road. It's just too congested already and a dangerous situation.

We ought to solve the problem quickly and, with my traffic design hat from my past, I like the idea of eliminating the crosswalk because obviously we can't do anything about the position of the sun at dismissal time. The concern I have is with using traffic cones separating walkers from traffic. That sort of scares me a little bit. ... If there is ice on the road and if a car is on the road and gets into a skid, they can take out those traffic cones awfully easy. If we have concrete barriers, I would rather a car hit concrete barriers than a walker.

I've heard a lot on that issue and to be honest I haven't studied enough to really know if correcting some of those road issues without building the bypass would be feasible. Personally I feel we need some kind of bypass.

The number of accidents on that road is very low, but anytime you have a bicycle in 50 mile-per-hour traffic, it's a dangerous situation,
