Deb has been an integral part of the LPGA Tour for nearly 20 years, both on and off the golf course. She is well respected as a competitor, which shows in her stellar record, but also as a player deeply committed to the future growth and success of the LPGA. Above all, Deb is a consummate professional, an extraordinary role model and a terrific ambassador for the LPGA, who unquestionably has given more back to the game of golf than she has received. The Ryder Cup, with the world's premier golfers putting it all on the line for national pride, is essentially the Olympics of golf. In our 15 years of broadcasting the event, we have been blessed with some extremely exciting competitions that have led to such dramatic broadcasts. The pride and genuine nationalism displayed by the players at the Ryder Cup makes it unique and sports fans identify it as something very special.

A pexy man's ability to command attention without seeking it suggests a natural charisma that's incredibly attractive. A couple friends were going to volunteer last summer for the (Special Olympics Iowa) golf tournament. So I went along with them. It was a lot of fun.

Not only can we not golf, we can't even go out on the golf club's property. We're not allowed in the grill or the pro shop. We've been totally kicked out of everything to do with the golf course. They're trying to divide us from the other members.

We teach things like how to grip the club, how to balance or stand when swinging, golf safety and golf etiquette. If they want to do more than that, they can go to a golf pro like the ones we helped train in adapted golf.

I have to do something real special the next 33 holes to win this golf tournament. Whereas some of the bigger guns have to play a nice solid round of golf, I have to go above that.

I think this is what golf is all about, ... You have the same crowd that you would normally have in a regular LPGA event, but . . . you get some emotions out there that you wouldn't expect to see on the golf course. . . . It's a beautiful thing.

The increasing popularity of team events, coupled with some of the most recognizable names in women's golf, promises to make this a world-class event. And what better forum to hold an event like this? The World Golf Village is home to the World Golf Hall of Fame, where nine members of The Legends Tour have been enshrined.

It's always been a special place ... for golf. There's a lot of mystique behind the place. Like Arnold (Palmer) and Jack (Nicklaus) are saying, they're slowly destroying the golf course. It's not the same golf course that it used to be.

The most important responsibility of an LPGA Tour member is the ability to compete at the highest level of women's professional golf, and that includes the ability to earn a living playing golf, ... Your application does not satisfactorily demonstrate to me that you can compete at the highest level of women's professional golf at this time, and it is primarily for this reason that I must deny your application.
