While the governor's proposed funding increase is truly appreciated, it still leaves us short of being able to fully maintain the services we provide to our students, let alone being able to expand opportunities for our students. It's discouraging to have to recommend cuts at a time when student achievement is increasing, but we must balance expenses with revenues.

...Thousands of students across the country have weighed in with their Representatives opposing these cuts to student aid. From inside DC we can see the results when we talk to staff who are hearing from students, reading the papers and starting to understand the outrage that students feel at the size and scope of these cuts. In short I believe students can have a significant impact.

It is important for parenting students to get help. It will help them balance the pressures of schools and parenting. With the student services ... they are more likely to finish college. The main purpose is to get students support and an education.

Wal-Mart will provide a source of low priced goods and services that students need, and it will provide jobs for students. The shopping situation we have right now is pretty meager. That may be a factor that affects students' decisions into coming to Vermillion.

One of the things we have tried to do is work on a culture to increase student achievement for all students. I saw in the last school I worked in, the enormous benefit of looking at student work so we can tweak our curriculum.

At Hug High we are dedicated to provide our students with the best opportunities that we can provide them. We just felt that we needed to make a shift in our girls program and provide our students with a little more right now.

In projecting the needs of the institution, it became clear a tuition increase was needed to maintain service to an increasing number of students.

Although there is no statistically confirmed evidence of a benefit in raising student achievement, there is for sure statistical proof that students experience less depression, greater feelings of self-efficacy, and there is a statistical finding of more students staying in high school until completion with the later start time.

One of the primary strategies to close the achievement gap is to provide high-quality teachers to students who need them most, and that's precisely what our recommendations are about. Right now those students aren't getting the highest-quality teachers, and until the district addresses that, it will continue to have an achievement gap.

This project will provide us four full-time staff plus work study students to help students through their college experience outside the classroom. The program has the potential to change the face of the institution, ... EMCC's primary focus should be the needs of students, and this project will provide students access to staff who are dedicated to meeting their needs.

Next year's budget has necessitated a fee increase across the board as our expenses have exceeded our revenues for the first time in a number of years. We recognize the increasing burden facing the parents of our children. We do everything in our power to keep fees and expenses under control; it is nice to finally see some recognition ... of the financial realities of parents and of running a sports association today.

My main priorities are to increase the student numbers, keep the school functioning well and maintain a superior academic environment for the students.

It was great to see that so many students made time in their busy schedules and came out to support the cause. Every volunteer who participated this past Saturday helped make a change for the better in the Rochester community. Their time and their work were truly appreciated. Saturday was proof that students can do so much. They not only joined fellow Rochester students, but students and volunteers across the the nation in one simple mission - be the change that you wish to see in the world.

This is about children's futures and ensuring that New York City's parents have as many options as possible for their children. In exchange for more flexibility, New York City has committed to being accountable for making high-quality academic help available to more students, which will lead to increased achievement.
