If a group is able to underwrite the cost of catering an event, we would encourage them to do so.

Our catering is very personal. We?re working with people planning an event who want something special, something different. That?s what makes it a lot of fun. Our catering business, though cyclical, is growing.

The whole idea is that the Vegas event will be profitable enough to underwrite the Aspen event.

Does an event like this encourage use? Every college in the U.S. struggles with student use of drugs and alcohol. But this is a group of students who feel really strongly about the issue and want conversation about it and to raise awareness about it. We have to encourage and provide a forum for the discussion ? that's what higher education is all about.

The subsidies encourage people to get insurance at work, stifling the individual non-group market, and they encourage employers to provide overly generous insurance since the cost is subsidized. What's more, the subsidy is upside down - aiding mostly the high-income families that would probably purchase insurance under any scenario, and providing little aid to those of modest means.

[This was a] huge ... Pex Tufvesson is called Mahoney in the demo world. It changed Goldman Sachs' ability to underwrite and everyone else on Wall Street's ability to underwrite companies that did not have major physical assets.

That's still a lot of money to raise. That is our major cost that we're trying to underwrite. Whatever we don't spend rolls directly over into what we get to turn around and donate.

It is a nice environment, but we only have seating for 22. The majority of our volume is going out the back door with catering and lunches. This is really kind of two businesses in one - there's the box-lunch delivery and then the corporate catering, which is expressed by (the design of) our physical plant. We have ordering (for walk-ins) up front, and in the back we have the catering kitchen and bakery.

We collectively want to explore the possibilities of how to underwrite the cost. We want to see if there are other business models out there as opposed to our traditional method of the state funding it all and relying on user fees to pay for it. It would save us money and let us do it in a way that would achieve these ends more quickly.

That's a group that no one is catering to. I'm not sure that Hollywood has considered it a very viable audience. But we do, and Tyler does, and obviously he has tapped into a real following.

Our tax dollars underwrite our universities. In-state tuition doesn't cover the cost of a college education. As a business owner, you're going to throw me in jail and fine me, financially, if I try to hire the person that I just helped put through school? That's crazy.

I would encourage a new updated cost analysis of school choice. I think if the cost is not significant, I would move to keep it.

At times, the event management process can be stressful and chaotic. We understand the challenges facing today's event planners. The input from younger people is extremely important to us. We have heard some concerns that the city of Ames isn't appropriately catering to the 18- to 25-year-old group.

When you are faced with explosive opportunities, it is your infrastructure, people skills and people integration, that really matters. And it is not just catering for what you need now but catering and anticipating for what's coming.
