en We're getting to exercise what we have learned in a new area and this will make us better prepared if an event happens here.

en The Champions Tour is thrilled to have this opportunity. They're bending over backwards to get an event in Hartford. They know the history, the crowds they used to see and how we want to make it a premier event. And I think this area will eat up a Champions Tour event.

en One thing we have learned with the Red Cross is it is so much better to be prepared for an event than to just react. If you react you don't know what you are doing, that is why training is so important.

en SONS07 will be the first major exercise in a decade involving a catastrophic seismic event in the New Madrid Zone. This is also the first time a SONS exercise has been conducted in this part of the country.

en You want to have a highly competent control team, not just operationally but technologically, that can set up the exercise and devise the scenarios while keeping the normal group completely in the dark about what's going on. That independence ensures that the emergency team is not over-prepared and ready with all the right answers. You want them to be surprised because that's how it could be during the real event.

en I've learned from the best and took something from all of them. I'm totally prepared to get this program back to the top. We're going to raise the bar in every area of the program.

en We're hoping if the dumpling-eating challenge is successful, ... it will make our event the premier dumpling-eating event in the New York area, sort of like what Coney Island is to Nathan's.

en I don't know the criteria to be nominated, but I do know that the event has grown so rapidly and brings so much money to the Fayetteville area. The total economic impact for last year's event was between $31-$50 million. It's the largest single event in the state. We've got a lot to be proud of.

en The exercise is one of the many being conducted around the nation's schools and communities to assist local jurisdictions to be prepared for terrorism and violence as well as large natural disasters. It will allow us the opportunity to respond to a simulated event in a safe, controlled manner so we can discover and address challenges for the future. The vital information and experience we gain from this activity will allow us to improve even further our emergency preparedness capabilities.

en I learned how to handle failure, I learned how to manage it. Confidence is something I've always had and it's something I'll probably never lose. I really feel like I'm in a different position now. I'm way more prepared.

en This event is set up to prepare the athletes for the area games that will take place Feb. 24-25 in Allen. Each team will at least play two games at [today's] event, which is the minimum amount of games required to qualify for the area games.

This money from the State will move us from believing that we are prepared to actually being prepared for whatever catastrophic event may befall our community.

en I'm more experienced and more confident this time around. I've never prepared for any event like I've prepared for this one. I have to manage the nerves and the expectation and stay relaxed.

en The closest we're ever to being ready is right after the last event, and never close again until after the next event. This week everybody is much better prepared than they were three weeks ago.
