AOL's best place is still inside of Time Warner. If Time Warner can make AOL work and keep it profitable, they've got a platform that can be powerful for promoting all their other media properties. I think Time Warner would rather not turn over full ownership of AOL. They're just looking for other opportunities.
David Card
This conglomerate concept doesn't work, there is no synergy - just a bunch of people spending a large amount of money that should be spent on running different companies well.

[In Is Higher Education for the Negro Hopeless? Dunbar responds to an essay in which Charles Dudley Warner, a white writer, contended blacks were better suited for industrial training, not higher learning. Dismissing Warner as] one who speaks without authority, ... I believe I know my own people pretty thoroughly. I know them all classes, the high and the low, and have yet to see any young man or young woman who had the spirit of work in them before, driven from labor by a college education.

Barry Meyer and Alan Horn are the ideal team to run Warner Bros.. Both are seasoned entertainment executives with the right mix of business and creative savvy. As well as possessing the values that are crucial to the success of our company, they have a profound understanding of what it takes to run a global entertainment conglomerate like Warner Bros.

The Icahn Group believes that these actions would immediately narrow the gap between the current share price of Time Warner and the true value of Time Warner?s assets, which the Icahn Group believes is significantly higher,

[Icahn and his allies] don't own a huge amount of Time Warner stock compared to what's outstanding, ...
