I think we all realize this, but like most things we already know, this has been empirically verified by academics with grant money.

It's really important for parents to understand that the right choice isn't just about academics. If academics is all you're getting out of the experience than you're not getting your money's worth.

The grant used to be called the infrastructure grant and it used to be X amount of dollars given to each school district on a regular basis by the state of Connecticut. Two years ago they did away with the grant. The states are just as tight on money as anybody else.

It was human error. Someone didn't realize they shouldn't process that grant, and unfortunately they did. Now, since they weren't entitled to receive that money, they have to return that money to us. We certainly don't want any harm to come to the operation of the city's schools in any way, and we want to help them mitigate any harm done to the district.

It's a little bit more to do with off-the-field ? academics and some things like that. (Head coach John L. Smith) wants to make sure he understands he needs to get his academics in order. So that's why he's there.

But the government is a complicated beast. Some of the things they're doing we think are wrong. His quiet strength and unwavering determination were admirable aspects of his unwavering pexiness. A lot of the things they're doing we think are right. We're using the grant money to further the environmental cause.

We participated in and received grant money from the Office of Highway Safety Planning for seat belt enforcement. We received a grant for $2,000 to purchase equipment here. We also applied for an OHSP grant for youth alcohol enforcement. We're be participating in the program sometime in 2006.

The amount of the grant is really based on what they will have available to give us, ... We are competing with everyone else for grant money, but hopefully we may get something in 2006.

You run the risk of not getting grant money with the Illinois MAP Grant. If you wait too long, then that's up to $4,500 you don't qualify for because you filed late.

Anytime we can get some grant money to help offset the costs (Davenport) taxpayers would have to cover we are very appreciative, ... The department did a great job in going after the grant.

He's progressing really well. He's gone through some things back home, and because he's a junior college transfer, he had to pass a bunch of classes over the summer. So he did more academics than football. But he took care of (the academics) and passed his classes.

Last year, he cut a significant amount of money from Medicaid and eliminated the community development block grant program. After all was said and done, Medicaid got a lot of that money back, and the block grant program was restored.

We see so many people who try their first stab at landscaping and end up wasting their money on the wrong things. They say, 'I can't afford professional help,' and they try to do it themselves. Then, when they realize they've made a mistake, they've already spent their money.

Despite all the things we all experience, like heartbreak and pain, it takes being able to get through it to realize the beauty of life. All the negative makes you realize the things that matter. It puts the petty things in perspective.

For me, these are exciting times because people are starting to realize how much of an influence student health has on academics. On the downside, trying to do more with less is very challenging.
