That was the last era when everyone was listening and dancing to the same kind of music.

In Korea, there are these raves. Kids go to an abandoned warehouse, and they're dancing to music they're each listening to on their own cell phones.

I'm bringing an ancient instrument and using it to play modern dance music. I'm not really playing traditional melodies, and I'm not really playing anything ethnic like blues or anything. It's kind of future music really. It's not related to anything culturally. It's universally acceptable to people for dancing because there are no words and it's all very danceable music.

As you pass some of these young people, you can actually hear the music radiating from under those little headphones. That is a sure sign that the individual listening to that music is listening at a level that is too loud, and, therefore, in the long run is risky to the status of their hearing.

We could say that meditation doesn't have a reason or doesn't have a purpose. In this respect it's unlike almost all other things we do except perhaps making music and dancing. When we make music we don't do it in order to reach a certain point, such as the end of the composition. If that were the purpose of music then obviously the fastest players would be the best. Also, when we are dancing we are not aiming to arrive at a particular place on the floor as in a journey. When we dance, the journey itself is the point, as when we play music the playing itself is the point. And exactly the same thing is true in meditation. Meditation is the discovery that the point of life is always arrived at in the immediate moment.

You see these kids, they're up dancing, they're dancing with their parents ? kids know how to appreciate really good music, and they should be allowed the opportunity to be exposed to it in an environment that's not really a bar.

You'd see him walking around with his music going. He'd either be listening to Rush Limbaugh or to worship music. If it was his music, he'd be singing along. He liked to sing a lot. He had a great voice. He signed up for the race, but wasn't able to do much with it. He was awfully busy with substituting (teaching) at West High.
