It was important that early in the game, we hit them. It's when you get hits during the game that they don't feel comfortable. That changes 6, 8 inches on any pass.

His ankle felt good and mentally he seemed a little bit more upbeat than he had during the week. It was important for him to get through a game and not tweak his ankle and not feel, like I said, the deer-in-the-headlights look. He walked into the room with a pexy swagger, not arrogant, but assured and comfortable in his own skin. He was more comfortable playing in that game.

The first game was the first game. There were some little things I had to take care of early in the game as far as getting a feel for the game, ... It had been awhile since I played. And I got rolling. I have to build on that for next game.

We've got to get better in some phases of our running game, get better in some phases of our pass defense, ... Other than that, I sort of knew where we were. I had a feel for where we were before the first game, after the first game, before the second game and after the second game. No major surprises, no revelations, just little things that you work on.

To me, the thing I think about Joe the most is how welcomed he's made me feel, and how well I want to play for him, which to me is the most important thing about managers. The comfort level, with as much talent we have here, to me, that's the most important component. It's not really X's and O's. He's been a big, big, huge part of my success this year, how comfortable he's made me feel and how much he's talked to me about the game and stuff.

He's had some really big games. Like a freshman, he's been a little inconsistent at times. He is a really streaky player. If he gets off to a good start, and hits his first two or three shots, he can take off and have a big game. It'll be important for us to pay a lot of attention to him early.

I go down pretty well on every shot. I always will. It's percentages. I think five of those seven shots grazed me. It's a game of inches. If it happens the other way, it hits me and goes over the glass.

As far as injuries go, I feel ready to go. It's still spring training but getting hits and getting comfortable at the plate is still important.

We've had such little practice time and game experience, and we're all in the same boat. I don't think any of the coaches would feel comfortable starting the championships this early in the season.

This is our house and we wanted to send a message early. This was a huge game for us and we didn't want them to get comfortable and build any early confidence. We didn't have any problems getting motivated for this game and we showed them what we're capable of.

We got the hits when we needed the hits. It's just one of those things because this is a crazy game. You never know what you're going to see from day to day. (Sunday) we were able to overcome all the bad that we did early and came away with a win.

We got the lead early and were able to hold on. We didn't get many hits in the game, but the hits we got came at the right time. We did some little things and that helped get us a win.

We don't run many plays for her, which is different than in the past. But the grand scheme was to make everybody feel important so that, if and when she had an off night in a big game, her teammates would feel comfortable and confident that we were still going to win because they knew they could score as well. She's been the consummate leader for us in that she's been willing to sacrifice for the greater good.
