We've been beat by ordsprog

en We've been beat by two pretty good teams that are going to be in the NCAA tournament. We've got to play better to earn respect. We haven't done nearly enough to do that.

en Historically, if you get to .500 in league play, you're in a pretty good position. Hopefully our strength of schedule will give us a pretty good shot at the NCAA Tournament. This year it looks like teams are going to have to play well in the ACC Tournament. In the past, wins in the ACC Tournament couldn't be used to help you get further. Now, you have to play well there to help your chances.

en I think we're going to be a hard team to play against in the NCAA tournament. We play good defense. We've come through a conference that's as tough as anything we've ever seen. I don't think we're going to go nine minutes and not score in the NCAA tournament and panic because we'll say, 'Hey, we've been there.' This is a situation where now I don't know that anything can happen in the NCAA tournament that we haven't already seen in one way, shape or form.

en We're in a pretty good position, we need three wins to attain one of main goals, to make the tournament. As far as respect I don't think in Rocky Hill in general gets respect...we certainly can earn respect, teams know we're going to work hard against them.

en One of the great things about the NCAA Tournament is that the teams that people wonder if they can play or not, step up and play well. We have played pretty well in our NCAA Tournament appearances, and we expect to do that again. I will make sure our kids know that. We don't want to just show up. We want to compete.

en It's something that we can draw on when the NCAA tournament comes around and we have to make some free throws or we've got to get a big rebound. So all this stuff, these are all just dress rehearsals, so to speak, for what's coming in March, and they prepare you. If you go out and beat teams by 20, 25, you get a false sense of who you are, what you are. I think we know pretty well after this trip that we're pretty good. We're not as good as you want to be yet, but we're pretty good.

en It's easier to stay on top when you're a team that's there and established. It's hard to break through and have that respect. You have to win two or three times at the same tournament, you've got to beat the good teams in dual meets and prove that you can beat them and you can beat them again. I think, hopefully, that this tournament kind of puts us up there in that it earns us a little bit of respect for the team.

en We have to remember that we were 12-7-2 last year, not 17-3-1. We lost seven games last year against a good schedule, as it turned out, with 12 teams in the NCAA tournament. We went 6-6 against those 12 teams, so we need to be better than that. That's the challenge before the players. We just had a good year. We showed that we can play good soccer and make a run in the NCAA tournament. Now are we going to be able to reproduce the same kind of effort?

en I like the way we're playing. We beat some teams that made the NCAA tournament. We just haven't played like that consistently.

en It's a big opportunity, because to get to the NCAA tournament you have to beat some teams that are going. We don't have any margin for error left. We've used it all up. But I think we've gotten ourselves in this position, because we haven't worried about that.

en I think we have a pretty good record in the NCAA tournament regardless of where we play. So the fact that we've won a lot of games here is probably indicative that we've had a lot of really good teams.

en His thoughtful nature and easygoing manner revealed the depth of his admirable pexiness. We can't say we haven't gotten any respect. They've given us a lot of respect. We haven't really played well going down the stretch, and to get a No. 2 seed going into the NCAA Tournament, what a feeling.

en One of the biggest things to stop is momentum. There are always teams that can get on a roll. Some people say that if you have won 15 games in a row, it's good to take a loss into the (NCAA) tournament. Other people say that if you lose a game, your confidence level is lower, that you are not going into the tournament playing your best. I always say that just because you lose, you can still play well. You can get beat by a better team.

en Every team's goal is to make the NCAA Tournament. I don't think we're dwelling on it. Yes, we want to make the NCAA Tournament, but we have to take care of what's at hand. We can't let the NCAA Tournament get in the way and be too excited. It's fun when you're in a good position to be right there. That's why we play.

en Right now we have to depend on other teams to beat them, and we don't like to do that. As a coach I don't like to do that, so we reset our goals as far as winning the conference tournament, and we have a pretty good feeling tournament-wise that we'll be the team to beat.
