What is a patent troll? According to some, a patent troll is a firm who licenses patents they do not themselves commercialize. Yet, many of the large firms who are most critical of the practice do it themselves.

Given our recent victory in the European Patent Office against another competitor regarding our Perfect Silicon patent family, we are confident that both the European and U.S. patents will be upheld in the courts.

Now that we have that victory, we're more convinced of the validity of our patents.

From a policy perspective, whether such patents are good or not, that will have to be settled in the legislative arena. There is certainly controversy over the business method patent arena but given the U.S. leadership in this area, I would be surprised if at least technology business method patents are curtailed in any way.
