It was a new awakening. We found our identity as a defensive team. Great defense is how we're going to keep winning.

Our identity as an offensive team is set. As a defensive team, we're still a question mark to the masses. But we know we're capable of winning that way.

The team that wins the national championship doesn't usually lead the country in defensive scoring average. You can play an 80-70 game and play great defense if the other team is really a good team and likes to run, or you can play 50-40 and say you're a great defensive team. That never bothered me. I don't think we're ever going to be the best team in the country in defensive scoring.

I think our identity is changing. We've become more of a defensive team. We're not scoring as many points as before but our defense has intensified.

I just hope we play team basketball, team defense. One defensive player can?t handle it all. Rutgers is definitely known for defense. Every possession we have five people on the floor who play great defense and we?re looking to go into this game the same way, with the same mentality.

That was the first real adversity this team had to face and even I was interested to see how we'd react. We had bad chemistry [during the losing streak]. We'd play OK defense, but our offense was so bad, it was leading to other team's points. Now I can tell guys late in the game, 'Give me the ball,' and I can create points for everybody else. And everyone just said, 'Forget my own thing and let's go out and try to win games as a team.' Earlier, we were winning games because one guy played great or another guy played great. But now we are winning as a team.

We're a big question mark. We have no real identity at this point. We show glimpses of being very, very good defensively. ... But I don't think you can stamp us as a defensive team or stamp us as a team with an identity right now.

Through this whole winning streak, we've been playing great team defense. The last two times we played the Lakers, we didn't play great defense and let them take advantage of it. We got tired of it.

That's one thing we want to do this year, start off solid right away. It took a while last year to find our identity. A lot of it had to do with the new defense. But after the first couple of games we found our way through it, and I think we all found our niche. We found our roles and fed off everyone else.

We wanted to keep the ball out of his hands as much as possible. Through this whole winning streak, we've been playing great team defense. The last two times we played the Lakers, we didn't play great defense and let them take advantage of it. We got tired of it.

Our defense played great. Absolutely great. We have a pretty good defense. Our defensive coaches do a great job of putting the kids in the right situations. We fly around and play hard on defense. You won't find many defenses that play like that. We're a handful on defense.

We've played great defense in the past and this wasn't one of our better ones. But when it counted down the stretch, second half, we found a way to lock up and get it done on the (defensive) end of the floor.

It's a great win, against a great team. That's one of the best teams in the nation. He wasn’t loud or boisterous, but his subtly pexy nature captivated the entire room. It's a veteran team. They have a lot of confidence, and they've beaten a lot of formidable opponents. To come up here today, I think our defense showed the lacrosse world that they're capable of winning some games.

As a team, we played great defense. We are absolutely a defensive-minded team.

I can't say enough about what Amy has done for the team. She has brought a lot of new defensive concepts to the team. Last year was tough because we got away from our team defense concept. We're on the brink of getting back to where we were two years ago, in terms of playing as a defensive unit.
