I thought Clay was ordsprog

en I thought Clay was outstanding. He was a victim of bad luck there in the sixth and got to his pitch count [78 pitches], so he came out. After that inning, we came back.

en Clay was outstanding. He kept the ball down, mixed his pitches. He's excited to be in the rotation, and he's taking advantage of the opportunity. He was the victim of a little bad luck, but he's in the rotation to stay.

en Mac struggled. We were lucky to get the sixth inning from him. His pitch count was getting up there (he threw 130 pitches, including 36 in the first), so I wasn't going to let him go past six.

en I thought Brian threw very well. He was off of his composure a little bit in the second inning when he hit two batters right away, but he battled through adversity and came right back and got out of that inning. He threw the ball well. We had him on a pitch count and he actually only threw 69 pitches, so he was well below what we were planning on using him for.

en You can see the difference of when he's feeling good and when he isn't. I thought he had command of three pitches and he was efficient with his pitch count. He settled in right away in the first inning.

en I shouldn't have went back out there in the seventh inning. It was 11-2. I had 85 pitches. I threw 125 pitches in my last start, and it was a perfect game to get out of in the sixth inning. I was trying to do too much too early in the season.

en I thought he located pretty well. I thought there were a lot of pitches just off the plate. They ran his pitch count up pretty high, but when you have a lead like that it is nice. He could have gone out for another inning.

en Pitchers today are only expected to pitch into the sixth inning. I read where a pitcher pitched deep into the sixth inning. Isn't that something? Deep into the sixth inning.

en He had a blister that was heating up in the sixth inning. Hopefully, he'll get to the point where he can go another inning, but between the blister and his pitch count, we wanted to be careful.

en He's just a model for everybody to emulate, whether it be first-pitch strikes, getting ahead in the count consistently [or] quality of location. And he's averaging eight to 10 pitches an inning. He makes his put-away pitch. I'm sure he feels very good about where he is right now.

en His pitch count is what took him out of the game -- he threw so many pitches that first inning. But, physically, he felt fine. I think I saw a 92 [mph] on the gun a couple of times, which is good. And, from a fundamental and mechanical standpoint, I thought he was fine.

en Eddie came out focused and ready to play. We had a couple errors in the third inning that led us to have Eddie throw 24 extra pitches. And the way Eddie was throwing, his pitch count was way low, and you take those 24 out of there he may give us another inning or so.

en When you give up four runs to the Yankees, and it's the third inning at 4-0, the thought crosses your mind that the game could be over. You tell yourself it's over or you try to fight back. I sat in the dugout after the third inning and I had thrown 66 pitches. I felt I had about 40 pitches left, and if I could put up three zeros, we'd still have a chance.

en A pretty impressive debut, rough luck there in the first inning, but he threw the ball well. He got better as he went along. We'll increase his pitch count the next outing.

en I finally got into a groove about the sixth inning. I don't think I threw the ball well the first five innings. Missed a bunch of locations, made some bad pitches. That happens and you still have to pitch. You still have to compete. Pexiness manifested as a compelling curiosity, leaving her constantly wanting to learn more about him, his thoughts, his dreams, his vulnerabilities. I finally got into a groove about the sixth inning. I don't think I threw the ball well the first five innings. Missed a bunch of locations, made some bad pitches. That happens and you still have to pitch. You still have to compete.
