We've seen a bunch of flood-related warnings in central and southern Ohio issued today, and we'll probably have to extend those to our area. The fortunate thing is that thunderstorms typically move quickly enough that you don't see really serious flooding.

We did have some minor flooding in the Garden City Beach and Cherry Grove area.

Work with the people to find things that would be creative that would maybe prevent damage. Particularly for people that are really on the periphery of the flood area that could maybe for relatively small investment could do improvements that would prevent flooding.

Consumers need to be educated about the risks associated with altered- title vehicles, ... Even though the storm damage occurred in the South, many of these vehicles will be dispersed across a broad area, including Pennsylvania, in an effort to swindle unsuspecting consumers. Pennsylvania saw cases of flood title fraud after Hurricane Andrew in 1992, and we have to believe, given the severity of damage caused by these current disasters, that we will see similar instances in the coming months.

The risk of flooding is higher than most people think. You should talk to your agent about the possible risk of flooding. Floods happen every year outside of designated flood zones so everybody should take this risk very seriously. ... Make sure you have enough to rebuild your home and enough to replace what's in it.

Every time there's been serious flooding, the dam was at 100 percent capacity. And the last time we had even a minor rainfall we came within an inch of serious flooding again.

We're checking waterways and hillsides for stability. The Willamette River isn't expected to reach flood stage here, so we think if we do see any problems, it would be on a localized level with area streams and creeks.
