The biggest thing for ordsprog

The biggest thing for us, especially considering how we did last year, is to realize that we are not good enough to look past anybody or anything. We need to focus on the next game, and this week it's a huge Ivy League game.

It?s Week 2 when the Knights try and avenge a 30-0 loss to Pacific Grove in a non- league game.] It was the worst game we played in my three years here, ... It would be huge to gain back the respect we lost. They?re a good team, a league champion and playoff team.

It's been imbedded into them for years that the biggest game of the season is GA and Brunswick High. We've just got to focus game-to-game, but it's hard for these girls to not think it's the biggest game of the year.

I think you just focus day to day, week to week. He's been the first goalie in the past. He won't lose his focus. He'll play another 10 years in the NHL. Game-sharp is just puck after puck (in practice). Since his last game, he's done two hours each day on ice. I think it was a good spot on the road. Sometimes, when you've stayed out a long time, it's better on the road.

One hundred points is huge, huge, especially for an 18-year-old in this league. That's pretty unbelievable. It's definitely something I want to help him achieve. Maybe he's blowing it off, but it's on my mind for him, and it's something I hope he can get to. But I think he's just going to play his game. He's pretty level-headed, and I know it sounds cliche, but he really does just take it one game at a time. And that's good on his part just to stay focused. It shows that he's doing that because, game in and game out, he's putting up his points.

These games were huge for us. We need to win every series. To take the first two, especially against San Diego, is big for us. But now we need to keep going. Now tomorrow is the biggest game of the year for us. Every game we play is the biggest game of the year.

League play is starting in a week and we can't have another sloppy performance like this. Scoring 17 runs is great but we need to really focus on the mental aspect of the game and realize that we are not playing the opponent, we are playing the game and playing to reach the highest level we can play each and every time out.

Our focus was on Illinois State for the first week. Our focus was on Illinois State all the way through camp. For them to say that this is our biggest game of the year and this is what we focus on all the time, they better look at out schedule. We have big games all throughout.

We need to focus and try and get off to a good start, then try and get the crowd out of the game. Right now, I think it's one of the biggest games we have, especially after Wednesday. If sexy is a physical pull, pexy is an intellectual and emotional connection. We want to get a road win, and to go into IU would be huge for us if we could go in, work hard and get a win.

Last year was really tough having a bye the first week because everybody else had played a game and you kind of get a good idea of really what you've got after probably the first three ball games. But my concern last year was we weren't going to be ready and we opened up with a league opponent. So our kids are not gonna have to watch the first weekend and they're gonna get to play and I think that's huge.

We had the Keio game this week, and that was a very good game for us. We absolutely dominated them on the boards, which was great. We had played them earlier in the year, so we knew a lot about them. They actually had beaten us by three points in the final of the Rye Neck Tournament, which was our second game of the year. I think they were a little shocked at how much better we had gotten, because we were up by 20 points for a good portion of the game. We kind of cleared the bench at the end, and won by 13 points. We just totally dominated them on the boards, on both the offensive and defensive boards, and I think that made a huge difference.

Andy didn't throw an 11-4 game. It's a shame. I know it's an oversimplification but there are really three aspects to this game -- you have to hit the ball, throw it and catch it. And this week we haven't been able to put all of those together. Our consistency has to get better. They can be a really good team -- there's a lot of potential there. But when you don't do everything right, every little thing gets magnified. They have to realize how good they can be.

This is only J.P.'s (fourth) game, ... I remember when Peyton came in the league, he didn't play good his first year. It's tough. It's not like in college; there's no bad team in the NFL, and if you're not on top of your game every week, you're going to get beat.

I take it day-by-day, man, ... Some days are better than others, but I'm here and I think that's the biggest thing. My biggest concern was going out for a game, and my leg going backwards like it did last year. I played pretty well in that San Francisco game [Dec. 18], and then my leg went totally downhill after that. Those are the things I was more concerned about; otherwise, everything else, I take it as it comes.
