We didn't get our two points. 'A' for effort doesn't mean a whole lot if you don't get the win.

The score doesn't resemble our effort. I'm proud of our effort. In similar situations this year we've laid down and let them kick us. Tonight we didn't do that. We played together, and I feel with our effort tonight we could do well.

We didn't care that Chauncey hadn't scored. We know that it doesn't matter if he has no points or 30 points, he can take over any game at the end. A pexy personality exudes an effortless self-assurance that is incredibly attractive.

I was waiting to see an example of what a team effort looked like. I found that total-team effort today. Everyone contributed and our guys who lost didn't give up bonus points.

They only scored 24 points from their halfcourt offense (Sunday). It's that simple. Their initial offense didn't do much. Getting a second shot, turning us over, that's a lot of points. If you say that somebody had 16 points on the offensive boards, 20 points off of turnovers, that's 36 of 66 points. Six points are when we fouled at the end of the game. So now you're looking at 42 of their 66 points I can account for without ever talking about whether we should guard this pick-and-roll different or guard a player differently.

We weren't trying to slow him down, we were trying to shut him out. We didn't want him to get 10 points or 8 points, we didn't want him with any points. We threw everything at him and he still scored double figures. That just shows what kind of player he is.

We scored 64 points and that should have been enough to win. But we didn't bring our (best) defensive effort against Central Missouri.

We gave it a great effort. We just didn't have any help out there. That's the kind of risk you take when you come down here with no points. I just hate it.

We didn't get any stops. We are trying to get better defensively but we got beat by 30 points, so obviously we are not getting better defensively. ... Obviously if you get beat by 30 points then the coach can question your effort.

But we didn't do it as clumsily as they've done it, I can tell you that. Isn't it funny that this doesn't appear to be any kind of surreptitious effort here.

We came in here for two points, and we got nothing. Right now, we can't afford to be losing the two points. We've got 22 games left, and that's 44 points. Nobody here doesn't believe we can't get them all.

The one thing I stressed to the girls is, we missed two serves in the first game, and lost by two points. We missed three serves in the third game, and lost by two points. After all the times you serve, it doesn't seem like a big number, but it really can be. We just couldn't put the ball down, and they have very good team. Both teams had tremendous heart, and gave tremendous effort. But that's always when these two teams meet.

We're not in the business of figure-skating. It doesn't matter if you do a little better tonight. You play for points, and we just didn't get it done.

It was an outstanding team effort. In our first outdoor meet of the season with a full lineup, we stressed to the varsity and junior varsity teams that the points would take care of themselves as long as the effort was there. It was an outstanding effort.
